Job Description:

Position Overview

The Manager, Workplace Design & Experience leads the planning and design, and supports delivery of workplace environments across TD's Canadian and international corporate real estate portfolio (excluding the U.S.). This role is responsible for shaping the physical Corporate and Client Facing workplace design experiences that support employee engagement, business performance, brand expression, wellness, sustainability, and operational excellence.

Working within Enterprise Real Estate, the position provides strategic leadership for high-profile workplace initiatives, executive environments, amenity spaces, and future workplace concepts, while partnering with internal stakeholders, consultants, project teams, and senior executives.

Key Responsibilities

Design Strategy & Leadership

  • Lead workplace design strategy for corporate office environments, executive floors, amenity spaces, and employee experience initiatives.
  • Continually evolve the design standards, guidelines, and best practices that align with TD's brand and workplace vision.
  • Develop innovative workplace concepts that promote collaboration, flexibility, wellbeing, and inclusivity.
  • Advise senior leaders on workplace trends, design opportunities, and portfolio planning strategies.
  • Ability and interest to utilize new and emerging AI tools to enhance design strategies, standards, and processes to ensure TD's workplaces lead and exceed industry norms and best practices.

Project Leadership

  • Oversee the design and execution of complex workplace projects from concept through occupancy.
  • Direct external consultants, architects, interior designers, engineers, and project teams.
  • Review space plans, design packages, specifications, presentations, and construction documentation.
  • Balance project objectives related to schedule, budget, design quality, and stakeholder expectations.

Stakeholder Management

  • Partner with executives, business units, Facilities, Technology, Security, Real Estate, and other internal groups to align workplace solutions with business needs.
  • Present recommendations and design strategies to senior leadership and governance committees.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external partners, consultants, vendors, and industry organizations.

Workplace Experience & Innovation

  • Lead the creation of employee-centered spaces that enhance productivity, engagement, and culture.
  • Explore emerging workplace trends, technologies, and design approaches to support future ways of working.
  • Champion biophilic, inclusive, and human-centered design principles across the portfolio.

Sustainability & Wellness

  • Integrate sustainability objectives into workplace projects and standards.
  • Promote LEED, WELL, accessibility, and environmental performance goals.
  • Advocate for responsible material selection, energy efficiency, and long-term operational value.

Team Leadership

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to internal team members and embedded consultants.
  • Support resource planning, organizational development, and talent management initiatives.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture.

Qualifications

Education

  • Degree or Diploma in Interior Design, Architecture, Environmental Design, or a related field.
  • Professional designation (RID, ARIDO, NCIDQ, OAA, AIA, or equivalent) considered an asset.

Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive workplace design experience.
  • Experience leading large-scale corporate interior projects and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience managing executive stakeholders and complex organizational environments.
  • Financial services or large corporate workplace experience is an asset.

Skills

  • Strong workplace strategy and interior design expertise.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
