Job description

Step into a dynamic and impactful educational environment supporting K-12 students across a range of classrooms including SPED settings. Multiple contract Paraprofessional positions are available for the upcoming school year, providing essential support throughout North Kansas City, Missouri. This opportunity offers experience across 22 elementary, 6 middle, and 5 high schools with assignments potentially spanning more than one site. Flexibility is valued, and assignments may evolve through the year based on district needs.

Role Overview:

  • Support in SPED and general education classrooms (1:1 or group settings)
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team—teachers, aides, therapists, and other staff
  • Assist with personal care needs including toileting, changing, and behavior management
  • Implement behavior intervention plans and instructional strategies to ensure student safety and success
  • Foster a respectful and dignified learning environment for all students

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Paraprofessional or related experience in K-12 settings
  • Adaptability to float among school sites as needed
  • Comfortable assisting with personal care and student behavioral needs
  • Active Substitute Certificate on the DESE website, or ParaPro Exam with transcripts on file (Cannot proceed without one. Verify or begin process at https://apps.dese.mo.gov/HQT/CredentialListerChecker.aspx)
  • Willingness to obtain NKC-specific fingerprinting ($45 fee)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Schedules vary by school level, with typical hours between 7:00 am and 4:30 pm. The assignment runs August 25th through May 28th.
