Job Title: Environmental Compliance Technician

Reports To: Director of Environmental Compliance

FLSA Status: Salary Exempt

Role Type: Full-time

Working Location: Field - NC / SC

Working Hours: This position requires flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Weekly hours will vary depending on business needs.

Job Summary: The Environmental Compliance Technician will be responsible for the following: conducting monthly visual inspections at each site, pre-state inspections, minor repairs found during the inspection. The goal is to safely perform monthly walks and help maintain Refuel sites compliant with state and federal regulations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities: This description reflects management’s assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe all tasks that may be assigned.

• Monitor environmental testing and 30-Day Inspections in each market preferred

• Schedule environmental contractors for repairs/testing of UST systems in Texas, North and South Carolina locations.

• Assist Refuel Fuel Service team with inventory control issues.

• Monitor monthly inventory control with leak check records for SC locations.

• Provide requested records/documents for DEQ inspections in each operating state of the company.

• Help with integration of any additional stores acquired by Refuel or new store opens, including conducting due diligence on such sites and formulating and executing a post-acquisition environmental compliance plan.

• Conduct monthly on-site checks (monitoring of pipe release detection equipment, ATG and probes functioning properly, spill buckets and cathodic protection system records (if applicable), and inspection of dispenser and STP sumps) and 30-day walk-through inspections of all locations and maintain such documentation electronically.

• Repair equipment that fails monthly inspection (including repair/replace bad fill caps, fill adaptors, damaged or missing covers/tops over tank openings, etc.) or schedule repairs with contractors for other repairs.

• Complete and electronically store required UST paperwork for the monthly inspections, checks and repairs (30-day leak records, 30-day walk-through records, 60 day Impressed Current (CP) records (if applicable) etc.) and keep copy on hand for DHEC/State specific DEQ store inspections.

• Performs other duties as assigned and requested by the VP of Legal and the Director, Environmental Compliance.

• Monitor environmental testing and 30-Day Inspections in each market preferred

• Assist Refuel Fuel Service team with inventory control issues.

• Monitor monthly inventory control with leak check records for SC / NC locations.

• Provide requested records/documents for DEQ inspections in each operating state of the company.

• Answer questions on environmental regulations and issues for acquisitions and assist with closures of UST systems.

• Schedule all required annual testing with 3rd party testing companies (line tightness testing, Hydrostatic Sump testing, spill bucket testing, release detection equipment testing (ATG, probes, mechanical line leak detectors, PLLD testing equipment), shear valve testing and overfill protection device testing) and maintain test results documents electronically and in hard copy.

• Help with integration of any additional stores acquired by Refuel or new store opens, including conducting due diligence on such sites and formulating and executing a post-acquisition environmental compliance plan.

• Conduct monthly on-site checks (monitoring of pipe release detection equipment, ATG and probes functioning properly, spill buckets and cathodic protection system records (if applicable), and inspection of dispenser and STP sumps) and 30-day walk-through inspections of all locations and maintain such documentation electronically.

Travel:

• Must be able to travel up to 80%.
