Job description

A sophisticated litigation practice is seeking an experienced Commercial Litigation Associate to handle complex business and commercial real estate disputes in a collaborative, high-performing legal environment. This Commercial Litigation Associate role is ideal for attorneys with strong litigation training, deposition experience, and a background representing sophisticated clients in high-stakes commercial matters.

The firm is seeking candidates with at least 3 years of business litigation experience, though more senior attorneys will also be considered. Attorneys coming from large law firms or highly regarded litigation boutiques are strongly preferred. Candidates from insurance defense-focused practices will not be considered.

The ideal Commercial Litigation Associate will have hands-on experience managing substantive litigation responsibilities, including taking and defending depositions, drafting motions, handling discovery, and supporting complex case strategy. Candidates should be prepared to provide deposition transcripts as part of the interview process.

This is a fully in-office opportunity supporting a sophisticated commercial real estate litigation practice.

Commercial Litigation Associate Responsibilities

Litigation and Case Management

  • Handle complex business and commercial real estate litigation matters
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery responses
  • Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategy
  • Manage all phases of discovery, including document review and production
  • Prepare for and attend court hearings, mediations, and arbitrations
  • Take and defend depositions and manage witness preparation

Trial Preparation and Litigation Support

  • Assist with trial preparation, witness coordination, and exhibit management
  • Analyze case records, deposition testimony, and legal filings
  • Support negotiation and settlement strategy efforts
  • Manage deadlines and case workflow in a fast-paced litigation environment

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of business litigation experience required
  • Significant deposition experience required
  • Experience handling sophisticated commercial litigation matters preferred
  • Commercial real estate litigation experience preferred
  • Background from a large law firm or sophisticated litigation boutique strongly preferred
  • Insurance defense backgrounds will not be considered
