About Us:
At INB, your career is more than a job; it's a chance to make a difference. As a locally owned, community-focused bank, we help individuals and businesses reach their financial goals through personalized service and trusted relationships. Our team is built on care, creativity, teamwork, balance, smart work, and enthusiasm. Join us and be part of a purpose-driven culture that makes a positive impact every day.
Please note: Location: Springfield, IL or a city with an INB location. Hybrid work arrangement with an expectation of three days per week in the office.
Job Summary:
The Director, Business Systems & Platform Strategy leads the strategy, governance, performance and evolution of the Bank's critical business technology platforms and related enterprise applications. The portfolio includes core processing, digital banking, treasury management, commercial and retail lending, deposit operations, payments, and the applications and integrations supporting these functions.
This leader serves as the strategic bridge between Technology and Operations, translating priorities into roadmaps, disciplined delivery and measurable results. The Director builds a platform-aligned team, guides major modernization initiatives, and leads responsible adoption of artificial intelligence, automation and emerging technologies in partnership with the Bank's control functions.
This is a newly established, enterprise-wide function. The Director will initially inherit an existing, proven platform-management model already operating successfully within a portion of the Bank, and will lead the expansion of that model across additional business platform domains, building and overseeing a team of Business Systems Analysts along the way.
Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily as well as other duties that are assigned. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Platform Strategy & Ownership
  • Own the health, strategy, roadmap, integration, resiliency and lifecycle management of the Bank's critical business platforms and related applications.
  • Establish governance for demand intake, prioritization, capacity planning, releases, change control and escalation.
  • Develop a forward-looking application and integration strategy aligned with growth, customer experience and operational priorities.
  • Drive modernization and optimization through rationalization of tools, workflows, integrations, licenses and vendor services.

Business Partnership & Process Improvement
  • Serve as the senior business-systems partner to leaders across Retail, Commercial, Treasury Management, Lending, Remittance, Deposit Operations, Finance, Risk and Compliance.
  • Translate business needs into prioritized roadmaps, requirements and delivery plans with clearly defined outcomes.
  • Identify and evaluate business unit strategies and priorities, ensuring key initiatives and emerging needs are incorporated into the Quarterly IT Strategy Review and annual INB Strategy Review processes.
  • Lead workflow redesign and continuous improvement to increase efficiency, strengthen controls and improve employee and customer experience.
  • Establish shared accountability with business owners for decisions, testing, training, adoption and benefits realization.

Enterprise Platform Transformation
  • Lead planning and execution for major enterprise banking-platform modernization and transformation initiatives.
  • Develop integrated plans spanning data, applications, integrations, configuration, reporting, controls, testing, training, communications and change management.
  • Coordinate internal teams and strategic partners to establish implementation plans, readiness criteria, contingency procedures and post-implementation support.
  • Establish workstream ownership, milestones, decision rights, escalation thresholds and executive reporting.
  • Partner with the PMO and Finance to manage budgets, resources, schedules, dependencies, risks and expected benefits.

AI, Automation & Emerging Technology
  • Develop and maintain the enterprise AI and automation roadmap in alignment with strategic priorities and operating needs.
  • Guide Business Systems Analysts in identifying, evaluating and prioritizing AI and automation opportunities within their platform portfolios.
  • Partner with the Bank's control functions as needed to support responsible use of AI and automation initiatives.
  • Provide input on business cases for significant AI or automation investments and monitor adoption and benefits realization across portfolios.

Vendor, Delivery & Operational Excellence
  • Own the day-to-day management of assigned strategic vendor relationships, including service delivery, SLA performance, roadmap alignment, escalations and critical-issue resolution.
  • Lead vendor onboarding, performance reviews, renewals and support negotiations.
  • Ensure disciplined testing, release, change, incident, production-support, business-continuity and disaster-recovery practices.
  • Monitor availability, incident trends, response times, release success, backlog health, utilization, adoption and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Measure value through productivity gains, cost savings, revenue contribution, service improvement and risk reduction.

Team Leadership & Capability Development
  • Build and lead a platform-aligned team of Business Systems Analysts with expertise across core, digital, treasury, retail, lending and related enterprise applications.
  • Define roles, competencies and performance expectations; recruit, coach and retain high-performing talent.
  • Establish standards for business analysis, configuration, integration management, testing, documentation, knowledge sharing and cross-training.

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business, Finance or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Ten or more years of progressively responsible experience in banking technology, business systems, platform management or related financial-services roles - or demonstrable equivalent experience leading complex, cross-functional technology or operations programs in another regulated industry.
  • Demonstrated leadership of enterprise platforms and strong knowledge of business operations, integrations and data flows; banking-specific experience preferred but not required if the above equivalent experience is demonstrated.
  • Proven success leading teams, strategic vendors and complex, cross-functional programs.
  • Experience evaluating or implementing AI, intelligent automation, workflow automation or emerging technologies.
  • Executive-level communication, sound judgment and the ability to translate strategy into disciplined execution.
