What is the role of a demand generation manager?

A demand generation manager is responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies to generate interest and demand for a company's products or services. They often utilize digital marketing, content creation, and analytics tools to attract and engage potential customers, aligning campaigns with sales goals. The role requires strong communication skills and knowledge of marketing automation platforms.

How much does a demand gen manager make?

Demand Generation Managers typically earn between $70,000 and $130,000 annually, depending on experience, location, and company size. Senior roles or those with specialized skills in marketing automation tools may have higher salaries, often exceeding $150,000. Compensation can also include bonuses and benefits related to performance and company policies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Demand Generation Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Demand Generation Manager, you need expertise in digital marketing, lead generation strategies, analytics, and often a degree in marketing or a related field. Job Description
We're looking for a hands-on Demand Generation Manager to join our growing Marketing team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building and optimizing digital campaigns that generate pipeline and revenue-not just managing programs.
You'll own end-to-end execution across paid media, ABM, email, and digital campaigns while partnering closely with Product Marketing, Sales, Marketing Operations, Brand, and RevOps. We're looking for someone who can hit the ground running, take ownership, and continuously optimize performance with minimal direction.
If you're passionate about demand generation, love testing new ideas, embrace AI, and enjoy working in a fast-paced SaaS environment, we'd love to meet you.
What You'll Do
  • Execute integrated demand generation campaigns that drive new logo acquisition, pipeline, and revenue
  • Build, launch, and optimize digital campaigns across LinkedIn, Google, Reddit, display/programmatic, paid social, and email
  • Partner with Product Marketing to develop messaging, landing pages, creative assets, and campaign content
  • Execute Account-Based Marketing (ABM) campaigns using platforms like Demandbase or 6sense
  • Build audience segments, create target account lists, and deliver personalized campaign experiences
  • Monitor campaign performance and make data-driven optimizations to improve engagement, conversion, and pipeline
  • Run A/B tests across messaging, creative, audiences, landing pages, and digital experiences
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing Operations, RevOps, and Analytics to ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and attribution
  • Manage agency and vendor relationships to ensure high-quality execution and strong campaign performance
  • Explore AI-powered tools and workflows to improve campaign execution, reporting, personalization, and team efficiency
  • Share campaign insights and best practices that help improve overall marketing performance

Qualifications
  • 4-7 years of hands-on B2B SaaS demand generation or digital marketing experience
  • Proven experience executing multi-channel demand generation campaigns from planning through optimization
  • Strong understanding of the entire demand generation funnel, including lead generation, nurture, ABM, pipeline creation, and revenue impact
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • LinkedIn Ads
    • Google Ads/ SEM
    • Paid Social
    • Display or programmatic advertising
    • Email marketing
  • Experience using ABM platforms such as Demandbase or 6sense
  • Experience working in Marketo and Salesforce to support campaign execution and reporting
  • Strong analytical skills with experience measuring campaign performance and translating insights into action
  • Experience partnering cross-functionally with Product Marketing, Sales, Marketing Operations, RevOps, Creative, and Analytics
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written communication and content collaboration skills
  • Experience using AI tools to improve marketing workflows, campaign execution, reporting, or personalization is a plus

Additional Information
Please note this is a hybrid role with onsite expectations of 3x/week (Tues - Thurs) from our San Mateo, CA headquarters.
The annual base salary range for this position is $130,000 - $152,000. This role is also eligible for a target bonus.
Compensation is based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to location, experience, job-related skills, and level.
Freshworks offers multiple options for dental, medical, vision, disability, and life insurance. Equity + ESPP, flexible PTO, flexible spending, commuter benefits, and wellness benefits are also offered. Freshworks also offers adoption and parental leave benefits.
