Job description

Creative Director, Demand Gen

San Francisco

About this role

Brand and Creative is looking for a Creative Director, Demand Gen to build and lead Okta's first dedicated demand gen creative team. You will own integrated campaign creative end to end across three major demand gen campaigns (AI, Okta platform, and Auth0 platform), designing the copy and visual work that connects landing pages, gated assets, emails, customer proof, and performance ads into one coherent campaign system.

This role is fundamentally outcome-driven. Demand gen campaigns are built to move prospects through the funnel and drive pipeline. You will develop integrated creative strategy, then iterate based on performance, learning what works and refining the approach over time. You will lead a team of two designers and one copywriter, supported by a production and operations partner aligned to your work. You will also work across the creative leadership team to ensure all creative work across the organization is aligned and reinforcing.

What you will do

  • Build the demand gen creative function end to end, including team structure, operating model, and clear partnership standards with Global Campaigns and Field Marketing
  • Lead a team of two designers and one copywriter, developing them as individuals and building a cohesive team that ships integrated campaigns
  • Own creative strategy for three major demand gen campaigns, translating Global Campaigns' campaign strategy into integrated creative strategy and execution
  • Develop integrated campaign creative where every asset reinforces one idea and drives toward conversion
  • Use performance data to understand what works across channels and formats, then refine the creative strategy and approach based on what the market tells you
  • Partner with Global Campaigns to establish clear roles, briefing standards, and a working rhythm so creative informs campaign planning from the start
  • Collaborate with the Creative Directors for Brand & Experiences and Digital, and the Director of Brand Strategy, to ensure creative work across the organization is aligned and coherent
  • Manage timelines and production to ensure the team ships high-volume work on time without sacrificing quality

What experience you have

  • Senior creative leadership running demand gen, performance, or conversion-focused campaigns, ideally at a B2B SaaS company, with a clear understanding of how demand gen creative operates distinctly from brand or awareness creative
  • A track record of building or scaling a creative function from the ground up: hiring, developing, and retaining strong designers and copywriters, and establishing process, standards, and partnership models with new teams
  • A portfolio demonstrating integrated campaign thinking - how you connect multiple asset types into one creative system, and how you've iterated that system based on performance results
  • Experience owning creative strategy and working with marketing operations and campaign teams as a creative leader, co-concepting campaigns rather than executing briefs
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a creative team while staying hands-on: comfortable conceptualizing and executing work alongside your team, not just managing from above
  • Experience applying brand systems in performance and conversion contexts

Why you should be excited about this role

  • You will build a dedicated demand gen creative function from the ground up, with real investment and support
  • You will lead a team and set the creative standard for campaigns across three major product lines
  • You will have a direct, measurable impact on pipeline and conversion performance in a category that's rapidly evolving
  • You will work in a performance-first environment where creative decisions are informed by data and iteration

Why we are excited about you

  • You understand that demand gen creative is its own discipline with its own rules, and you know how to lead it
  • You can build a team and build a function, not just manage what exists
  • You think in campaigns and outcomes, iterate based on performance, hold the creative bar high, and jump into the work alongside your team
