Engineering Infra Services Modernization - Durham Support
Lab Support Engineering is at the heart of a worldwide engineering infrastructure services team providing 24x7 lab access, service and solutions support in multiple locations. Independent and flexible, team members are always ready to adapt to the changing daily priorities. They make an impact in all kinds of ways - from installing and maintaining servers and storage equipment within the fast-paced lab computing environment, through to providing top-level technical expertise and support to engineering departmental users. What's more, they work with engineering teams to create hardware configuration test plans in support of software development.
Join us to do the best work of your career and make a profound social impact as a Lab Support Principal Engineer on our Engineering Infrastructure Services Modernization Team in Durham, North Carolina.
What you'll achieve
In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, operation, and ongoing maintenance of R&D and laboratory infrastructure supporting engineering cloud production environments. You will plan and manage lab layouts, oversee equipment setup and lifecycle activities (utilization, upgrades, and archiving), and ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of servers and storage systems.
You will use test and diagnostic tools to perform equipment validation, characterization, and preventive maintenance, while partnering closely with engineering teams to define hardware configuration test plans that enable software development and product validation. Acting as a technical point of contact, you will provide expert support to internal users, collaborate with vendors to integrate new technologies, and adapt quickly to changing priorities in a fast-paced lab environment-ensuring seamless operations and high-quality outcomes for external customer product development.
You will:
  • Build and Operate our expanded production hosting environment in Durham
  • Provide remote support for hosting environments worldwide
  • Modernize our processes with automation and AI to improve our services and efficiency

Compensation
Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary range for this position is $118,000 - $166,000
