Position Purpose:
The primary purpose of this position is to support the Meals on Wheels home delivered meals program by coordinating the inventory, sorting, packing and delivery of home delivered meals for MOW clients.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Possess a valid driver's license and appropriate insurance coverage; good driving record required.
  • Have the ability to read, follow a schedule, have the ability to read maps, and use GPS.
  • Moves equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
  • May be required to use stairs to deliver meals to clients living on upper floors of buildings with no access to an elevator.
  • Excellent customer service and communications skills, both written and verbal, required and ability to handle a heavy call volume in a professional and efficient manner. This includes the ability to read, write, and understand the English language and speak the language in an understandable manner.
  • Able and willing to work independently with flexibility and integrity, as well as effectively and harmoniously with team members, clients, family members, volunteers, government agencies/personnel, and the general public in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Must be fully up-to-date with required vaccinations.

As a Delivery Operations Coordinator you can expect to:
  • Sorts and packs home delivered meals according to the assigned schedule, ensuring clients requests are accurately accounted for with on-hand meal inventory.
  • Assists with the preparation of shelf-stable meal boxes for client deliveries.
  • Reviews the delivery schedule and assigned route each day, verifying meal counts are accurate and match the number of deliveries, and maintaining food at appropriate temperatures.
  • Assists volunteer drivers upon their arrival with loading delivery pick-ups into their personal vehicles.
  • Collects all route sheets and equipment from volunteer drivers upon their return. Prepares volunteer delivery carts and route sheets for following delivery day.
  • Delivers meals in a company vehicle when routes are not covered by volunteers, assuring that all safety regulations are followed, including but not limited to the use of hands-free devices, following posted speed limits and parking signs, etc., monitors quality, and assures each client received the appropriate type and quantity of food (i.e., temperature, appearance, etc.).
  • Acts as a public-facing representative of the Meals on Wheels program. Delivers meals directly to clients and greets them warmly and in a polite, cordial manner by expressing patience, caring, and respect. Observes clients' wellbeing (i.e., health, living conditions, services needed, etc.) and reports any concerns or issues to the Director.
  • Maintains and submits accurate and complete written documentation for each client meal (i.e., delivery time, client signature, delivered or undelivered, etc.).
  • Maintains the company vehicle in good working condition, including but not limited to keeping the gas tank full, checking the oil, and recording accurate mileage.
  • Conducts a pre-trip inspection to check fuel levels, tire pressure, and fluid levels. Ensures vehicle is clean and in good working condition and notifies Director of any repairs needed. Reports hazardous conditions and accidents immediately to the Director.
  • Maintains accurate and up to date records. Accurately completes all written documentation and submits in a timely manner (i.e., time/mileage sheets, route sheets, leave requests, incident reports, etc.). Routinely reviews route sheets and updates information (i.e. special instructions, cross streets, etc.) to ensure efficient delivery of meals.
  • Returns all equipment/tools (i.e., clean vehicle, route sheets, vehicle keys, undelivered meals, carts, etc.) to the office at the end of each shift.
