Job description

ARS is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support the U.S. Air Force KC-46 Weapon System Lifecycle (WLC) Program. The selected candidate will provide software engineering expertise across the full system lifecycle, supporting software design, integration, testing, implementation, sustainment, and modernization efforts for mission-critical aircraft systems. This position works closely with government and contractor teams to ensure software solutions meet operational, safety, and airworthiness requirements.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support the design, development, integration, testing, implementation, and sustainment of software systems supporting the KC-46 weapon system.
  • Analyze software and system requirements and translate operational needs into technical solutions.
  • Participate in software architecture, systems integration, verification, validation, and software assurance activities.
  • Review and develop software engineering documentation, including Software Development Plans (SDPs) and technical reports.
  • Support hardware and software integration across aircraft and ground support systems.
  • Perform software deficiency analysis and recommend corrective actions.
  • Participate in engineering reviews, technical interchange meetings, design reviews, and milestone activities.
  • Assist with configuration management, risk management, and systems engineering documentation.
  • Support Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness and Airworthiness compliance activities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, government personnel, and contractors throughout the system lifecycle.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/ Technical Experience Requirements:

  • Must be a US citizen
  • Active Secret security clearance (or ability to obtain/maintain one)
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field with twelve (12) years of relevant experience, including five (5) years supporting Department of Defense (DoD) programs; OR Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field with fifteen (15) years of relevant experience, including five (5) years supporting Department of Defense (DoD) programs; OR twenty (20) years of directly related experience with applicable certifications, including eight (8) years supporting Department of Defense (DoD) programs).
  • Demonstrated experience applying software engineering principles throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Experience supporting software design, systems integration, testing, verification, validation (V&V), implementation, and sustainment activities.
  • Knowledge of software architecture, systems engineering, and software assurance methodologies.
  • Ability to interpret technical requirements and develop engineering documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
