Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator

Location: Colorado Springs, CO

Industry: Utilities / Commercial Construction


Position Overview

A well-established, family-owned contractor with over 75 years of success in the Colorado Springs market is seeking an experienced underground utilities Heavy Equipment Operator to join their team. This organization offers long-term stability, consistent work, and a strong commitment to promoting from within.


Key Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy equipment, including loaders and excavators, in a utilities construction environment
  • Perform excavation, grading, and material handling tasks safely and efficiently
  • Work as part of a unified crew handling both dirt work and utilities installation
  • Follow all site safety standards and maintain equipment awareness

Equipment
  • Primary equipment includes Hitachi and John Deere
  • Additional equipment: Caterpillar (CAT) and Komatsu
  • Fleet consists mostly of newer equipment (limited GPS currently, with planned upgrades)

Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience operating heavy equipment such as loaders and excavators for underground utilities installation projects
  • Proven experience in heavy equipment operation within a construction setting

Preferred:

  • Experience with John Deere 470 Excavator or 624 Loader
  • Familiarity with major equipment brands (John Deere, Hitachi, CAT, Komatsu)

Work Environment

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
