Job description

The Saving Gracie Equine Healing Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing, medically rehabilitating, and providing therapeutic care for horses in need. Founded on the belief that every horse deserves a second chance, the foundation offers gold-standard equine care, including individualized medical treatment, behavioral rehabilitation, and lifelong sanctuary. Horses arrive from a variety of backgrounds, often carrying both physical injuries and emotional scars, and each receives a tailored evaluation and treatment plan to support their healing journey. In addition to rescue and rehabilitation, Saving Gracie Equine Healing Foundation offers equine-assisted therapy programs that foster growth, healing, and emotional well-being for both humans and horses. Through community engagement, education, and advocacy, the foundation promotes compassionate equine care and creates lasting, positive impacts for animals and people.

Reporting to and in partnership with the Founder and the Executive Director, the Development Manager will spearhead the Saving Gracie Equine Healing Foundation's development efforts as it continues to grow and expand its services and leadership role in serving the horse community. A new position in the organization, the Development Manager will have the opportunity to build the development function while supporting current campaign efforts and fostering long-term sustainable funding growth. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Financial
  • Establish and monitor fundraising goals.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies.
  • Manage fundraising budget and allocate resources efficiently.
  • Track and record all donations from individuals and businesses.
  • Research, write, and submit grant applications and fundraising proposals to secure funding.
  • Schedule and attend board meetings to present relevant updates.
  • Marketing & Events
  • Plan, organize, and execute fundraising events.
  • Create, launch, and manage innovative fundraising campaigns.
  • Draft and distribute regular newsletters to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate communications with the PR firm.
  • Create engaging marketing and fundraising materials.
  • Oversee donor stewardship and communication efforts
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with donors.
    • Conduct ongoing outreach and cultivate long-term donor relationships.
    • Manage Bloomerang CRM and other fundraising platforms.
    • Maintain consistent communication and nurture donor relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The individual must be passionate about the goals, values, and mission of the SGEHF
  • 2+ years of fundraising experience
  • Ability to create strong interpersonal connections with individuals, building upon relationships to fully engage donors, partners, and the community 
  • As a highly visible and active participant in the community, the Development Director must be able to articulate SGEHF message and mission, have experience representing an organization at public functions and events, and have a comfort level in public speaking and engagements with hundreds of attendees.
  • Understanding of professional fundraising ethics and codes of conduct and the ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality of constituent information 
  • Familiarity with basic gift accounting principles, relevant IRS rulings, and charitable gift guidelines 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across all levels
  • Highly technologically savvy, with proficiency in donor management systems (Bloomerang), and MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), and the ability to comprehend and interpret nonprofit financial statements.
