■ About the Role

USA Senior Ocean Operations Specialist (ORD) is responsible for managing and coordinating end-to-end ocean freight operations, including both import and export shipments. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient movement of cargo by coordinating with carriers, customers, customs brokers, and internal teams. The ideal candidate possesses strong ocean freight forwarding experience, a deep understanding of international logistics operations, and the ability to independently manage time-sensitive shipments in a fast-paced environment.



■ Responsibilities

  • Coordinate full-cycle ocean freight shipments, including both import and export operations.
  • Manage shipment bookings with ocean carriers and transportation service providers.
  • Prepare, review, and process ocean freight documentation, including Bills of Lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, arrival notices, and other shipping-related documents.
  • Track and trace shipments to ensure timely movement and proactively resolve delays, exceptions, or operational issues.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, ocean carriers, customs brokers, and internal departments to ensure smooth shipment execution.
  • Monitor shipment milestones and maintain accurate shipment records within the company system.
  • Support billing, freight audit, cost verification, and invoicing activities related to ocean freight shipments.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, customer requirements, customs regulations, and applicable transportation and trade regulations.
  • Provide timely shipment updates and maintain a high level of customer service throughout the shipment lifecycle.
  • Identify operational challenges and recommend solutions to improve efficiency and service performance.
  • Support process improvement initiatives and assist with training and mentoring junior team members when needed.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Sales, Pricing, and Customer Service teams to support business objectives and customer requirements.



■ Required Skills

  • 5–8 years of experience in ocean freight operations, freight forwarding, or international logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of ocean import and export operations, transportation processes, and shipping documentation.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple shipments and prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of cargo movement, customs clearance processes, inland transportation, and supply chain operations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to proactively identify and resolve operational issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to operational accuracy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
