Decision Modeling & Analytics Managing Director

The Decision Modeling & Analytics Managing Director is responsible for building out and managing a financial modeling and decision analytics service offering within BDO's Valuation & Capital Market Analysis practice. In this role the Managing Director will be responsible for creating the go-to-market strategy for client acquisition, developing the internal processes required for successful project execution, and acquiring the resources necessary for a sustainable business model.

Job Duties
  • Designs and implements the strategic plan to build a Decision Modeling & Analytics service offering
  • Leads a team of professionals in the execution and delivery of engagements
  • Works with team members at all levels to identify needs from a financial modeling and decision analytics perspective
  • Enhances modeling techniques and capabilities as the analytical landscape evolves
  • Executes business development plan in conjunction with the VCMA segment leader
  • Builds relationships with key executives and stakeholders in support of growth of the service offering
  • Identifies how to work with Alliance Firms and coordinate with international firms as appropriate on opportunities as they arise
  • Champions a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and excellence
  • Other duties as required
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervises the execution of the service line strategy from identification of opportunities through client delivery
  • Supervises day-to-day workload of staff on assigned engagements and reviews work product/client deliverables
  • Ensures staff are trained on all relevant databases, financial models, and software platforms
  • Evaluates the performance of staff and assist in the development of goals and objectives to enhance professional development
  • Delivers periodic performance feedback and complete performance evaluations for staff
  • Acts as Career Advisor to staff, as appropriate
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics, required
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, preferred

Experience:

  • Fifteen (15) or more years of financial modeling and decision analytics experience at a global consulting/Big 4 accounting firm or a national role at a small to mid-sized form required
  • Significant experience in business analytics, corporate finance, valuation, or financial accounting, required
  • Demonstrated history in leading and managing team members

License/Certifications:

  • CFA, CPA, or valuation credential, preferred
  • Industry credential in financial modeling, preferred

Software:

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint and Word, required

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Superior financial modeling skills including: 3-statement financial forecasting, scenario analysis, trend analysis, variance analysis, and other strategic decision analytics
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and root cause determination skills
  • Solid organizational skills, especially the ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details
  • Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environment
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to manage a team of professionals and delegate work assignments as needed
  • Capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and client personnel
  • Ability to encourage team environment on engagements and contribute to the professional development of assigned personnel
  • Executive presence and ability to act as primary contact on assigned engagements
  • Ability to successfully interact with professionals at all levels
  • Ability to travel within the US and internationally, as required
