Job description

A single parent family located in Las Vegas is seeking two highly experienced Mandarin-speaking Newborn Care Specialists to support the family from their first child's birth through at least the first year, starting in December 2027. Since a daily 4-hour break cannot be reliably provided, the candidates will work a 7 day on/7 day off ROTA schedule, providing continuous 24/7 support while on duty.

The baby will be born in Palo Alto, California, where the family will remain for approximately the first eight weeks postpartum before returning to their primary residence in Las Vegas. The family anticipates spending the majority of 2028 in Las Vegas, before gradually spending more time in the South Bay area (likely Palo Alto/Cupertino) in the years that follow.

The term will be a minimum of 12 months, with the option to either extend or provide a comprehensive handover to a ROTA nanny team.

The family is seeking exceptionally seasoned professionals who are capable of providing guidance and reassurance, while confidently taking the lead/initiative and making informed, best-practice decisions on the parent’s behalf. Establishing healthy sleep and feeding routines will be a key priority, along with exposing baby to Mandarin, and offering general newborn education and support during this exciting transition into parenthood.

Fly-in, fly-out is available to the successful candidates (i.e. candidates do not need to reside locally to the family).

The Newborn Care Specialist will play a key role in supporting both the baby and parents during the early postpartum period. Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the baby’s safety, comfort, and overall well-being at all times
  • Establishing and implementing healthy sleep habits and age-appropriate overnight routines that the parent/ nanny team can confidently continue after the contract concludes
  • Providing thoughtful guidance and practical strategies to help maintain consistent daytime and nighttime schedules, setting the baby up for long-term sleep success
  • Assisting with overnight feedings and newborn care, including diapering, soothing, burping, and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene
  • Offering general newborn-related support and education to first-time parent, helping them build confidence and familiarity with infant care
  • Maintaining clear communication with the family regarding the baby’s sleep, feeding, and overall overnight progress
  • Providing the baby with as much exposure to Mandarin as possible

Candidates should possess:

  • A minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience working as a Newborn Care Specialist
  • Extensive experience providing 24/7 care and support for newborns and first-time parents
  • Outstanding professional references that demonstrate reliability, discretion, warmth, and expertise
  • A calm, proactive, and collaborative approach to supporting families during the newborn stage
  • Prior experience working with babies born via surrogacy is a plus, though not essential

  • Candidates must be native Mandarin-speaking
  • Valid U.S. Passport, Green Card, or Employment Authorization Card (EAC)
  • Current vaccinations, including Flu, RSV, Tdap, and MMR
  • Current Infant/pediatric CPR and First Aid certification
  • Must be pet friendly (the family have 3 domestic short hair cats)
  • Non-smoker / smoke-free lifestyle
  • Be willing to travel with the family both domestically and internationally, as required
  • Availability to commit to the full contract term (12 months to start)

  • The family are willing to offer a competitive rate for the right candidates
  • A dedicated private bedroom and bathroom will be available at all family residences
  • Candidates do not have to be based locally - the family will fly candidates in/ out and cover all costs associated with travel to and from their location
