They work across various sectors, including energy, transportation, manufacturing, and finance, to help organizations meet regulatory requirements and sustainability goals. This role often requires expertise in environmental science, engineering, policy, or sustainability.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of someone working in a decarbonization role?

Professionals in decarbonization positions often analyze energy usage data, identify emissions reduction opportunities, and develop strategies to lower carbon footprints across operations. They may collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, and corporate sustainability to implement carbon reduction initiatives and monitor progress. Regular tasks can also include preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders, keeping up-to-date with evolving regulations, and managing sustainability projects from conception to execution.
