Hybrid position,ย ideally for people living inย CTย

Want to make a real difference in the worldโ€”and enjoy doing it?ย At Abode Energy Management (Abode), we care deeply about the work we do and the impact it has on our planetโ€™s future.ย Weโ€™reย a fast-growing energy efficiency program implementer in the Northeast, leading the way in electrification and heat pump adoption. Our team is fun, kind, passionate, and progressiveโ€”and we offer a competitive benefits package to match. That includes Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, and Disability Insurance, a matching 401(k), and fully paid Parental Leave. We also believe you should be able to balance your work and personal life, so we offer generous paid time off (more than 30 daysย a year!) and reasonable flexibility in when and where you work. Ifย youโ€™reย looking for meaningful work,ย caringย coworkers, and a great company culture, come join us.ย ย

Summary/Objectiveย

Building from its coreย expertiseย of administering residential energy efficiency programs, Abodeย implements manyย utility and government-sponsoredย programs helping homeownersย and small businessesย develop and implement plans to electrify and decarbonize theirย buildings, while supporting contractors to provide quality decarbonization services.ย Working alongside theย EnergizeCTย team, the Connecticut (CT) Decarbonization Advisor (Advisor)ย willย provide a variety of support services virtually and in-person, including decarbonizationย consultations, presentations, and trainings.ย This is a terrific opportunity for someone with a strong background in building science and energy efficiency, as well as the ability to translate technical jargon into actionable, practical guidance that helps realize the climate benefits of electrification.ย

Responsibilitiesย

Consultations may range from helpingย peopleย understand the basic pros and cons of systems to helping them better understand sizing, design, and installation considerations to maximize their benefits. The Advisor willย utilizeย Abodeโ€™s proprietary quote review tool to consultย virtually withย residential customers to compare and evaluate equipment options for adopting heat pumps.ย This position focuses primarily on Residential customers and may support future Commercial initiatives as necessary.ย

  • Engage with heat pump contractors, distributors, manufacturers, and customers.ย

The Advisor will meet (typically not more than once or twice a week) either virtually or in the field with companies involved in manufacturing, distributing, and installing heat pumps, both to provide them with information about related programs and incentives, as well as to learn more about industry needs.ย

  • Contractor and Customer Support.ย

The Advisor will partner with the rest of the team to provide ongoing support to both contractors and customers, with tasks including managing a shared inbox/phone line forย contractor inquiries, responding to and helping to resolve customer and contractor issues, and conducting regular reviews of contractor certifications and following up as needed to obtain renewed documents.ย

  • Collaborate on the development of programย toolsย andย deliverย discreteย projectsย

The Advisor will work collaboratively with internal and external partners to develop new programย tools, as well asย deliver onย the creation and/orย improvement ofย resourcesย to meet evolving program needs and technology updates.ย

  • Learn about and stay current with recommended system design and installation standards.ย ย

The Advisor will stay current with evolving standards for the recommended design and installation of heat pumps, providing fact-based, useful advice to homeowners and contractors.ย

  • Other tasks as assigned by yourย Manager, including administrative dutiesย (i.e.ย answering phone calls, staffing program inboxes,ย and conducting data review)ย

Abode isย evolvingย multi-faceted programs for state agencies and utilitiesย utilizingย a comprehensive blend of education, technicalย assistance, and financial incentives to accelerate the adoption of electrification and decarbonization solutions.ย ย Theย Advisorย role willย evolve over time to encompass new or changing responsibilities as these programs mature.ย
