The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, profitability, customer retention, and operational success of Volvo Cars Silver Spring. This role provides strategic direction across all dealership departments while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and customer-focused service. The General Manager partners closely with dealership leadership and MileOne Autogroup to achieve business objectives through sound management practices and continuous performance improvement.

Essential Duties

  • Hire, train, develop, and motivate all dealership department managers.
  • Direct and oversee all dealership management and supervisory personnel, conducting formal performance evaluations on a regular basis.
  • Develop annual operating plans and budgets for Volvo Cars Silver Spring and submit them for approval.
  • Meet monthly with the comptroller/office manager to review departmental forecasts and ensure alignment with annual business objectives.
  • Collaborate with department managers to establish monthly and annual goals while monitoring performance and accountability.
  • Monitor the Daily Operating Control (DOC) and implement improvements when necessary.
  • Provide accurate weekly financial and operational reports to dealership ownership and MileOne leadership.
  • Ensure monthly financial statements are accurate, complete, and submitted to Volvo on time.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with manufacturer representatives, lending institutions, and key business partners.
  • Communicate dealership policies, procedures, and performance expectations to all employees.
  • Foster a positive, high-performance culture through enthusiastic leadership, coaching, and employee recognition.
  • Conduct regular management meetings to ensure every department operates efficiently, delivers outstanding customer service, and achieves profitability goals.
  • Review and approve employee training opportunities that support professional development and dealership objectives.
  • Review and approve compensation plans for dealership employees.
  • Partner with the business office to ensure accurate financial reporting and recordkeeping.
  • Collaborate with marketing and leadership teams to develop effective merchandising and advertising strategies that support dealership growth.
  • Resolve escalated customer concerns while reinforcing Volvo Cars Silver Spring's commitment to delivering an exceptional ownership experience.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of successful automotive dealership experience as a General Manager, preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and inspire large, diverse teams.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to analyze financial statements, profit and loss performance, and key operating metrics.
  • High-energy leader with a positive attitude and a commitment to operational excellence.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build a customer-first culture and drive employee engagement.
  • Experience with luxury automotive brands and customer experience initiatives is preferred.
