Job description

#jobalert | DIRECT HIRE | CHIEF MARKETING OFFICER | Hybrid | Southern California Preferred

A rapidly growing specialty home services contractor with operations across multiple states is hiring its first Chief Marketing Officer. The company serves residential customers with high-ticket solutions and has scaled significantly, expanding into new markets with a strong operational infrastructure and a data-driven culture already in place. This role reports directly to the CEO and carries full ownership of the marketing function — strategy, team, budget, and results. For an experienced marketing executive ready to build something, this is the opportunity.

  • Anticipate $225K-$275K base salary, dependent on experience
  • Strong bonus opportunities (could be close to $200K, based on performance, profits, etc.)
  • Full suite of benefits
  • Preferably located in Southern California
  • Hybrid is preferred | Remote may be possible, consideration on a case-by-case basis
  • *Experience/Background in Service-based Industries highly desired; construction, HVAC, roofing, specialty contracting, residential home services, etc.

Overview:

  • Define and execute a multi-channel marketing strategy that accelerates lead generation, brand awareness, and revenue growth across existing and emerging markets.
  • Expand the company's lead acquisition channels beyond current digital performance — identify, test, and scale new sources of qualified residential customer demand.
  • Build and lead a marketing team from the ground up, including hiring, development, and performance management.
  • Manage all external agency and vendor relationships; evaluate performance against deliverables and optimize or replace as needed.
  • Own brand positioning and identity across all platforms, ensuring consistency as the company enters new markets.
  • Oversee digital marketing channels including SEO, SEM, social media, email, and content — holding each accountable to measurable outcomes.
  • Drive the CRM and marketing automation strategy, ensuring marketing data integrates with sales performance metrics.
  • Manage trade show and regional event strategy across all operating markets.
  • Oversee the marketing budget with full P&L visibility; report on ROI and reallocate resources based on performance.
  • Partner with the executive team and board to align annual marketing priorities with company-wide growth objectives.

Preferred Skills/Experiences:

  • 15+ years of progressive marketing experience, including 7+ years in a senior leadership role (CMO, VP of Marketing, or equivalent).
  • Background in service-based industries; home services, construction, HVAC, roofing, or specialty contracting experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record of scaling marketing operations for a multi-location, growth-stage company.
  • Proven ability to build and diversify lead generation programs with measurable revenue impact.
  • Experience building and managing a marketing team, including hiring and development.
  • Strong command of digital marketing — SEO, SEM, email, social media, content strategy, and lead generation.
  • Experience managing agency partnerships and holding external vendors accountable to performance.
  • Fluency in marketing analytics, CRM platforms, and marketing automation tools; ability to manage by metrics and KPIs.
  • Experience managing marketing budgets, forecasting expenses, and demonstrating ROI.
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills; comfortable presenting to senior leadership and board-level audiences.
