We are partnered with a leading industrial minerals company to find an experienced Controls & Instrumentation Engineer to support the development and implementation of advanced automation, process control, and instrumentation solutions across their North American operations.
The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, optimizing, and supporting industrial control systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.
This remote position can be based anywhere across Canada or the United States and includes up to 25% travel, including some international.
What You'll Do:- Design, develop, test, maintain, and optimize industrial control and automation systems
- Support and improve advanced process control (APC) initiatives across manufacturing operations
- Develop and maintain programming for PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, expert control systems, and operational technology (OT) networks
- Support plant automation through control loop tuning, instrumentation calibration, and process optimization
- Maintain and expand corporate data historian and industrial data infrastructure systems
- Identify opportunities to improve operational performance through data analytics and visualization tools
- Collaborate closely with plant operations, engineering teams, project managers, contractors, and IT/IS stakeholders
- Participate in the development and implementation of global standards for instrumentation, controls, OT infrastructure, and automation systems
- Support continuous improvement, reliability, and innovation initiatives across industrial operations
- Provide technical troubleshooting and occasional on-call support during project implementation or operational issues
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company safety standards and industry best practices
Who You Are:- Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, or related Engineering discipline with exposure to industrial controls and instrumentation
- 6+ years of experience in controls engineering, automation, or process engineering within industrial or heavy manufacturing environments
- Strong knowledge of industrial automation systems and process controls
- Experience with Advanced Process Control (APC), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), HMI/SCADA systems, Operational Technology (OT) networks, Industrial data historian platforms
- Experience with process optimization, instrumentation, and automation troubleshooting
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively across cross-functional teams
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently across Canada and the United States, with occasional international travel
