Job description

DCJS Certified Training Instructor

Coastal Virginia Training Academy is hiring for a certified instructor to assist our training director with unarmed and armed training classes in our 3 offices. They will be working out of our Norfolk Office where the main training school is located but will need to travel to our Hampton office and Chesterfield office to provide unarmed and/or armed training for our officers working in those areas.

Responsibilities:

Instruct 18-hour DCJS required entry level unarmed course (O1E Core Subjects Training) at our various office locations, will include Saturday/Sunday classes

Instruct 8-hour arrest authority classes (O5E) at our various office locations.

Instruct 32–40-hour armed training classes(O75E) at our various office locations.

Instruct 5-hour armed renewal class (O7R) at our various office locations.

Assist the training director with specialized training for Shotgun, Rifle, Baton, OC Spray, and Tasers.

Must have knowledge of DCJS application process and ability to assists students with processing.

Must maintain records and training documents as required by DCJS (Department of Criminal Justice Services)

Assist officers with DCJS/LOTUS application and/or renewal applications

Qualifications:

Must have an active DCJS (Department of Criminal Justice Services) Instructor certification for unarmed, arrest authority, and preferably armed. Further certifications such as CPR/AED, baton, O/C Spray, and Taser training, etc. preferred.

Excellent communication skills

Basic computer skills, knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel

Preference: Prior experience teaching security guard training courses / Armed Instructor Certification
