JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Cook / Cook Aide

Reports to: Center Director

General Job Description:

The cook’s main responsibility is to ensure all of our students are always offered healthy meals prepared and served on time in a clean and safe environment.

Requirements:

High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Must be 21 years old or older

CPR and First Aid Certified

SIDS certification

Must obtain a Clearance/Qualifying letter from the DCDEE Criminal Record Check Unit prior to getting in contact with children.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares the meals planned in the menu and provided by the center

  • Delivers on time to each classroom the meals prepared.

  • Complies with all the Sanitation requirements.

  • Reviews the menu and offers suggestions for improvement with new and nutritious meals.

  • Reviews of the items in the pantry are in good condition and within date for consumption.

  • Keep the kitchen clean and organized. Perform daily cleaning, and weekly and monthly deep cleaning.

  • Keeps the pantry, refrigerator and cupboards clean and organized.

  • Keep cabinets, floor, pantry, stove, microwaves, faucet, and all the spaces clean in the kitchen.

  • Reports to administrative staff when items needed for the menu are not available with enough time to buy them.

  • Reports to administrative staff when kitchen appliances are not working or need repair.

  • Cook will lead the kitchen at all times and when applicable a Cook Aide will assist in all required aspects.

  • Cook will review and do the shopping list (walmart and costco or sam’s) and will make sure to verify in case there’s available food that can be used for the upcoming week.

  • Cook will check and review the shopping items are complete for the week, and will report items that should be used to avoid them to expire for the food to spoil.
