Job description

GENERAL PURPOSE:
This position will be responsible for coordinating and managing the execution of capital construction projects developed and designed to expand distribution center capacity and/or efficiency within the distribution environment from concept to completion. Includes analysis, cost estimation and justification, preparation of funding request documents as well as day to day oversight of project execution, coordination and communication between Supply Chain Management and all appropriate internal and external agencies. He/she will also assist in generating designs, specifications, and RFPs and drive the bid review, vendor evaluation and selection.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Development
• Participate and drive the design, specification and bid review processes for supply chain strategy projects, including preparation of estimates, funding requests, MHE vendor evaluation and selection
Management
• Ensure quality of work for facility construction and MHE installation through oversight of project activities, drawing/work review and approval and acceptance testing/punch list validation
• Manage in-house resources and outside contractors on projects. Establish and monitor schedules, manage resources, and maintain project budgets to ensure timelines and budgets are met and quality of work is maintained
• Track project execution to project timelines. Provide regular update reports to Supply Chain leadership, DC Operations leadership or specific internal/external agencies as required on project progress. Maintain documentation on project progress against specifications and project plans
• Coordinate/Develop commissioning, testing and training plans suitable to startup of a facility or system
• Coordination and communication between contractor project management, IT and Network Strategy on all project and Operations related issues
• Coordinate and communicate to meet project participants expectations
• Identify project risks and issues and make recommendations to Supply Chain leadership on alternative courses of action
Process Improvement
• Interface with in-house operations, IT and engineering to identify and deliver projects that will improve the capacity or efficiency of the Distribution Centers
• Coordinate with in-house operations, engineering, and external vendors and consultants to develop alternative processing capabilities

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressive experience in Material Handling Systems project management and/or facility operations
• Demonstrated strong understanding and experience with the implementation of automated material handling systems and equipment
• Four-year degree in Engineering or equivalent field
• MBA or equivalent professional experience preferred
• Experience in new distribution center start-up a must
• Demonstrated track record in supply chain roles
• Demonstrated track record as a successful project manager including project financial and process management
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects at one time
• In-depth knowledge of distribution systems and automation; a thorough understanding of conveyors, controls, and material handling equipment

Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer.
