Job description

Eaton's CTO Corporate Technology Office division is currently seeking a Lead Engineer - DC Systems and Technologies. This position is based at the Eaton Research Lab in Golden, CO. Relocation assistance will be provided for candidates within the hiring country.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $105000 - $154000 a year.

What you'll do:
Eaton Research Labs (ERL) is currently looking for a Lead Engineer - DC Systems and Technologies to join our energy transition and DC systems team in Golden CO. If candidate is not located within a 50 mile radius of Golden, CO relocation will be considered. We are looking for an experienced candidate in DC systems and technologies related to data center or EV charging applications.
Eaton is a power management company made up of over 92,000 employees, doing business in more than 175 countries. The ERL is a corporate R&D function within Eaton's Chief Technology Office, responsible for innovative and breakthrough technology development and commercialization for Eaton products and service solutions. The Lead Engineer will report to Technology Manager and help identify key technical gaps and influence technology roadmaps for Eaton's products and services.
Job Responsibilities:
• Serve as a technical contributor and/or lead in technology development and demonstration.
• Serve as an individual contributor and subject matter expert in government and non-government proposal development and project execution related to advanced DC systems and technologies related to data center or EV charging applications.
• Contribute to the value proposition development for technical projects and programs.
• Investigate, integrate, and validate new product designs abiding by time-based milestones. Engage multiple business stakeholders, cross-functional teams, National labs, Universities, and Customers.
• Innovate, invent, and challenge state-of-art design & process by securing critical intellectual properties through patents and publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
• PhD degree or PhD candidate within 6 months to graduation in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited institution
Or
• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited institution plus minimum 3 years of industrial/entrepreneurial experience after Master's in researching, developing and designing technology solutions in DC system design and operation technologies.
• Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future.
Preferred qualifications:
• Background in energy systems, including power systems, renewable energy, and control systems.
• Expertise in using control theory and digital control techniques for power converters and grid connected systems.
• Experience using hardware in the loop (HIL) platforms, or real time simulators, for controller testing and validation will be a plus.
• Adaptable, eager to learn emerging technologies, and capable of bridging theory with practical implementation.

• Demonstrated strong experience in one or more of the following topics: Model based design for DC systems; control of DC systems; hybrid AC/DC or DC system protection; data center system modeling and control; DC data center system architectures; DC microgrid/distribution systems design.

• Self-motivated and goal-oriented individual.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in dealing with management, employees, customers, and suppliers.
