GENERAL PURPOSE: The Transportation Financial Analyst is responsible for delivering accurate, insightful analysis that supports operational decision-making, cost management, and long-term financial planning across the transportation network. This role develops, maintains, and improves forecasting models, production reports, and financial tools to support transportation and supply chain activities, including freight accounts, auditing, accruing, and reporting of actuals. The analyst partners closely with business leaders to connect daily work to overall company performance, ensuring budgets, reporting, and financial projects are executed with accuracy and accountability.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide accurate and timely reporting of transportation expenses, including long-term planning, variance analysis, and monthly close activities. Identify, analyze, and clearly articulate cost drivers, linking results to broader company performance. Proactively monitor operational and industry trends, escalating risks and opportunities with recommendations for action.

Independently lead financial analyses from scoping through execution, delivering insights that inform business decisions. Partner with cross-functional teams to support strategic planning, network expansion, and cost efficiency initiatives. Develop and maintain financial models and tools that enhance analysis, storytelling, and scenario planning.

Build and present clear, accurate explanations of financial results and processes to leadership. Drive accountability by ensuring accuracy and completeness of all deliverables, while proactively troubleshooting issues. COMPETENCIES: Analytical Curiosity Financial Storytelling Data Translation Proactive Thinking Accountability Results Driven Business Acumen Technical Finance Skills QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: Minimum 2-4 years of relevant experience.

BS/BA in accounting or finance. Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, nested formulas, data validation, conditional formatting, financial modeling). Experience with automation and report improvement is a plus.

Strong business acumen with the ability to connect financial outcomes to operational performance. Basic knowledge of GAAP. Coursework should have focused on accounting, finance, operations research, computer programming or advanced mathematics and statistical analysis.

Strong knowledge of month-end close processes, including accruals and journal entries. Prior experience with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis of financials highly desirable. Prior experience with transportation analysis highly desirable.

Familiarity with financial and reporting systems such as Hyperion and Power BI. Team player with strong interpersonal skills; confidence to interact with senior leaders in Transportation and Distribution centers. Exceptional attention to detail and a proven track record of accuracy in deliverables.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial partners. Demonstrated ability to take ownership, follow through on commitments, and deliver consistent, measurable results. Self-starter with curiosity to learn, ability to anticipate challenges, and willingness to proactively seek solutions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA: Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer. Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc. Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.

Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically. Reliable technology access and a productive home workspace are essential to support effective hybrid work. This role requires regular in-office presence, including to engage in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback.

However, this role can perform duties effectively using a combination of in-office and remote work.
