Job description

The primary role is to support day-to-day wholesale power trading operations, which involves forecasting power prices for the next day and developing bids and offers around these forecasts. The Trading Analyst will perform analytical work in support of our trading efforts each day. Initially, this role will also help our data team improve our data quality and ensure data integrity. Over time, you may be given more responsibility as the primary trader for a particular geography.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily trade operations, using our tools to provide quantitative analysis and support
  • Document market activity and hypotheses for fundamental drivers of prices in different locations on different days
  • Perform analytical work to improve our forecasts and to suggest possible strategy improvements
  • Assist data team with the implementation of new data sources, mappings between data sources, and ensuring data integrity for our day to day trading efforts

This position is based in our Birmingham, AL office.

  • Proficiency in Excel is preferred, but not required
