Job description

Technology Operations Specialist

Salary: $100,000–$120,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience
Schedule: Full-Time | 40+ hours per week
Classification: Exempt
Work Arrangement: Hybrid to Remote, based on business needs

Position Summary

Key Staffing is recruiting for an experienced Technology Operations Specialist to oversee and continually improve the day-to-day technology environment for a growing organization.

This is a hands-on technical position responsible for IT operations, systems administration, technical support, cloud-based business applications, automation, hardware/software lifecycle management, and technology process improvement.

Working closely with the Director of Technology, the Technology Operations Specialist will serve as the primary owner of day-to-day technology operations while contributing to automation, software implementation, product validation, and process improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate is an experienced technical professional who can independently troubleshoot issues while also identifying opportunities to improve systems, workflows, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Technology Operations & Technical Support

  • Serve as the primary administrator for the organization's day-to-day technology environment.
  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support to staff.
  • Provision, deploy, maintain, repair, and retire company hardware and software.
  • Administer user accounts, permissions, Google Workspace, mobile device management platforms, and other business technology systems.
  • Support macOS devices and related technology.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, inventories, and standard operating procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the reliability, efficiency, and consistency of the technology environment.
  • Escalate architectural, security, and strategic technology matters to leadership when appropriate.

Automation, Systems & Technical Projects

  • Partner with technology leadership to implement technical initiatives and operational improvements.
  • Translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.
  • Develop and maintain internal automations, scripts, reports, and workflow improvements.
  • Configure and administer technology platforms to support evolving business requirements.
  • Research technical solutions and present recommendations.
  • Participate in technical projects from planning through implementation and deployment.
  • Document new systems and processes to support long-term maintainability.

Product Validation & Operational Readiness

  • Validate completed software enhancements against documented business requirements.
  • Test new functionality using real-world operational scenarios.
  • Identify workflow issues, usability concerns, operational risks, and business edge cases.
  • Collaborate with development teams regarding expected system behavior and operational feedback.
  • Provide recommendations regarding whether completed technology work is ready for management review and production deployment.
  • Assist in developing user documentation and internal training materials for new functionality.

Qualifications

  • College degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in IT operations, systems administration, business systems, software implementation, or technical operations.
  • Experience administering Google Workspace and modern cloud-based business applications.
  • Experience supporting macOS and mobile device management (MDM) platforms.
  • Experience with scripting or automation using technologies such as:
    • Google Apps Script
    • PowerShell
    • Bash
    • Python
    • JavaScript
    • Similar scripting/automation technologies
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent written communication and technical documentation skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and software QA practices from engineering and team-lead perspectives.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work a hybrid or remote schedule with occasional travel for meetings, training, and conferences.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking a hands-on technology professional, not someone limited to basic help-desk support. The successful candidate will be comfortable owning day-to-day IT operations while also working on automation, systems improvement, software implementation, technical projects, and product validation.

This position is best suited for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, improving processes, documenting systems, and taking ownership of the technology environment.
