Job description

 
We are now hiring day-shift shipping clerks to join the team at our Kenosha location! Located at 8801 88th Ave., Pleasant Prairie, WI, 53158. If you're looking for long-term employment with a company you can grow with, this is the position for you!

You will be assisting the warehouse manager to ensure customer's needs are met. Looking for someone skilled in the use of computers, basic data entry, and exceptional communication skills. Forklift experience is required.

Must pass a drug screen and a criminal background check prior to employment.

Hours: 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on a rotating shift. Must be available to work weekends/holidays as scheduled.

Job Overview: 

  • Entering and closing receipts and shipments
  • Entering accurate data into metrics
  • Communicating with multiple Customer Advocates and trucking companies to answer questions concerning shipments
  • Update WMS other applicable systems as needed
  • Direct forklift drivers on priorities

What you'll be doing:

  • Provide efficient, courteous customer service through email and telephone.
  • Resolve routine customer questions and complaints or refer to higher level.
  • Serve as liaison between customers, suppliers, and warehouse personnel.
  • Maintain records, prepare required reports, and perform related typing/work processing and clerical duties.
  • Direct contact with incoming drivers, spotters, and forklift operators.
  • Update and maintain warehouse management system and yard management software as needed.
  • Participate in corrective and preventative actions and continuous improvement projects.
  • For food grade warehouses, follow all food safety standards set forth in the facility and actively participate in the food safety culture.
  • Verify counts of incoming product, make necessary adjustments on paperwork, and initial any changes.
  • Sign and date the paperwork when load is finished.
  • Ship accurate number of pieces per load worksheet.
  • Answer phones and take accurate messages.
  • Operate copy and fax machine as needed.
  • This position may require employee to operate a forklift from time to time, which will include the following:
    1. Daily forklift inspection. Check for damage or problems and report them to your supervisor.
    2. Lock out / tag out unsafe or inoperable equipment.
    3. Load, unload, and place product in proper storage bay stacked straight and neat.
    4. Report immediately all incidents occurring on the forklift.
    5. Accurately input information as trained with scanner, documenting all functions performed.
    6. Change propane tanks properly and safely as needed.
    7. Reference Forklift Operator job description for additional duties.

What we're looking for:

  • Knowledge of Company Procedures.
  • Skilled in the use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating system.
  • Skilled in the use of common office machinery.
  • Ability to use warehouse management system to process incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Basic data entry and/or word processing skills. Experience with Excel.
  • Ability to work safely, follow safety procedures, and operate equipment safely.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Takes direction from leadership and gets along well with others.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives with supervision.
  • Participate in corrective and preventative actions and continuous improvement projects.
  • Ability to stoop, push, pull, bend, reach, and lift to 50 lbs. regularly.

Additional Qualifications and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must obtain Industrial Truck Certification through in house training if operating forklift.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as requested by supervisor.
  • PPE as required by each facility – refer to handbook for specific requirements.

Working Conditions:

  • Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and loud noises.
