Job description

Position Summary

The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all shipping, receiving, warehouse, and material handling operations to ensure the efficient flow of materials, products, and inventory throughout the organization. This position supervises shipping and receiving personnel, coordinates inbound and outbound logistics, maintains inventory accuracy, and ensures compliance with company safety, quality, and customer service standards.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate freight scheduling with carriers, customers, and internal departments.
  • Oversee receipt, inspection, and verification of incoming materials and products.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records through cycle counts and physical inventories.
  • Supervise, train, coach, and develop Shipping & Receiving personnel.
  • Enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required;
  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of shipping, receiving, warehouse, or logistics experience required, with prior leadership experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees, supervisors, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
  • Working knowledge of Infor XA ERP and MV2 software applications, including inventory management, shipping, and receiving functions, is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

Ensure Accurate Shipping and Receiving Operations: Maintain the accuracy of all incoming and outgoing shipments through proper verification, documentation, and inventory control practices.

Develop and Manage Team Performance: Provide leadership, coaching, training, and performance management to ensure employees have the skills and support needed to meet departmental goals. Ensure a Safe Work Environment: Enforce safety policies, PPE requirements, and safe material handling practices while maintaining an organized work area.

Meet Productivity and Delivery Targets: Coordinate staffing, workloads, and shipping schedules to ensure on-time shipments and efficient receiving operations.

Maintain Inventory Control and Compliance: Monitor inventory accuracy, complete required documentation, and ensure compliance with company procedures.
