Job description

Role: Shipping and Receiving Supervisor

Reporting to: Materials and Production Manager


Position Summary

The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor leads and coordinates the shipping, receiving, and warehouse team while remaining actively involved in daily operations. This role combines leadership responsibilities with direct participation in shipping, receiving, material handling, and order fulfillment activities. The Supervisor is accountable for inventory accuracy, leads cycle counting and physical inventory activities, and ensures all material movements are accurately recorded in the Infor/Syteline system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coordinate, and actively participate in daily shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations.
  • Perform hands-on shipping and receiving activities, including unloading, loading, staging, palletizing, weighing, wrapping, and verifying shipments.
  • Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment as required to support daily operations.
  • Verify incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy, completeness, and condition; document and communicate any discrepancies.
  • Prepare and review shipping and receiving documentation, including Bills of Lading, packing slips, pick tickets, and shipping notices.
  • Schedule and coordinate common carrier and customer-arranged pickups; prepare all associated paperwork.
  • Support production operations by transferring materials from the warehouse to production areas (Press, Laminator, etc.).
  • Inspect loading operations to ensure compliance with customer and carrier shipping requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment with a strong focus on 5S.
  • Own inventory accuracy      for the warehouse:
    • Lead and perform cycle counting and monthly/periodic physical inventories (including Saturdays, as required).
    • Reconcile inventory discrepancies between physical counts and the business system.
    • Ensure all material movements are properly transacted in Infor/Syteline.
  • Train and support operators and warehouse personnel on proper material handling and inventory transactions within Infor/Syteline.
  • Assist with the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of business systems and warehouse processes.



 Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of shipping and receiving experience, including supervisory or lead experience.
  • Associate's degree or higher 
  • Strong hands-on warehouse background with proven forklift operation experience (certification preferred).
  • Experience with inventory control, cycle counting, and physical inventory.
  • Experience using ERP or inventory management systems; Infor/Syteline experience strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Strong math, computer, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, lead, and support team members.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and accountable with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent time management, organization, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of people while managing multiple priorities.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, crouch, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
  • Work around moving machinery, electrical panels, elevated platforms, and occasionally in hot/cold, noisy environments.
  • Use of appropriate PPE and adherence to all safety procedures
