Job description

**Responsibilities Overview: Anesthesiology Position**

**Schedule:** - **Orientation:** July 31 - 

**Call Schedule:**  - August 2: Sunday evening call starting at 6:30 PM  - August 3-7: Day shifts    - August 4 and 6: Day shifts with on-call option    - August 13: Day shift with on-call option

Schedule/Dates:

  • Orientation: 7/31
  • Aug 3rd day shift
  • Aug 4th day shift with call option
  • Aug 7th day shift
  • Aug 13th day shift with call option
  • Sept 8th - 11th, call shift options Mon, Tues, & Fri
  • Sept 17th day shift with call
  • Sept 18th day shift with call
  • October- December dates: to be determined
  • Weekday 6:30am start time - end time dependent upon OR case volumes.
  • On average MDAs work 12 hour shifts. **No hourly guarantee, daily hours are dependent upon OR volumes**
  • On site call is 6:30pm-6:30am

- **Future Scheduling (September - December):** To be determined; typical weekday shifts commence at 6:30 AM with end times contingent on OR case volume.

- **Shift Duration:** MDAs typically work 12-hour shifts; note that there is no hourly guarantee as daily hours are volume-dependent. - **On-Site Call:** 6:30 PM - 6:30 AM

**Case/Procedure Mix:** - **Scope of Care:** Comprehensive anesthesia management for surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic interventions across varied disciplines.

- **Procedures Include:** Thoracic, Neuro, Cardiac, Trauma, Pediatric, and Obstetric anesthesia.

- **Work Environment:** Primarily inpatient with responsibilities for both inpatient and outpatient surgical cases as per schedule.

  - **Case Distribution:** Approximately 20% inpatient and 80% outpatient.

  - **Non-Operating Room Anesthesia (NORA):** Involves managing a maximum of 4 active cases across 3 rooms, operating under a Physician Direction Model.

**Software and Documentation:**

- **Electronic Medical Records (EMR):** EPIC, with dictation facilitated by Dragon.

**Qualifications:** - **Education:** Must hold a U.S. medical degree or equivalent international degree.

- **Board Certification:** Candidates must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology.

- **Training:** Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited residency program is required.

- **Licensure:** Eligible or already possess an unrestricted medical license in Michigan, along with a Controlled Substance License.

- **Certifications:** Current PALS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association are mandatory.  

**Case Logs:** Applicants must present evidence of proficiency, demonstrating involvement in 100 or more hospital anesthesiology cases within the past 12 months, aligned with requested privileges.

**Licensing Considerations:** Preference for candidates with Michigan licenses; IMLC candidates will also be considered.

**Advanced Practice Providers (APPs):

** The role includes oversight of CRNAs within a care team model, which is a requisite part of practice responsibilities.
