Job Description
The Advanced Microscopy team is seeking a Materials Analyst to join our XSEM (Cross-Section Scanning Electron Microscopy) Engineering group. This is a hands-on, production-focused role centered on SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) Imaging, sample prep cross-sectioning, and micro cleaving, to support advanced materials and semiconductor analysis for clients across multiple industries.
The successful candidate will be a strong technical contributor who thrives in a fast-paced lab environment, enjoys focused tool time, and values producing high-quality, site-specific results within defined client timelines.
What You'll Do
A typical day in this role includes:
  • Efficiently utilizing scanning electron microscope and appropriate sample preparation techniques to provide high-quality data to clients.
  • Managing multiple client samples, ensuring adherence to internal quality and security standards and turnaround commitments.
  • Working closely with your team to optimize workflows, improve efficiency, and maintain consistent output.
  • Collaborating with internal analytical teams and as needed, clients to understand analysis requirements and standardized procedures.

This role is well-suited for analysts who prefer focused tool time, hands-on execution, and technical problem-solving in a collaborative lab setting.
Work Schedule
Wednesday through Saturday, 6pm to 5am (4 days/10hrs)
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science & Engineering or a related field, or equivalent industry experience. This position is designed for early- to mid-career professionals (BS/MS level) and is not aligned with PhD-level candidates.
  • Hands-on experience with SEM OR strong academic / early-industry exposure with demonstrated capability to independently execute sample preparation workflows.
  • Working knowledge of electron microscopy principles (SEM).
  • General understanding of semiconductor device physics and failure analysis. concepts gained through coursework, lab work, or prior industry experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven lab environment.

Physical Requirements
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office or laboratory to access file cabinets, machinery, equipment etc.
  • Ability to continuously operate a personal computer or lab equipment for extended periods of time (4 or more hours).
  • Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate a keyboard and other lab equipment, use a telephone, access file cabinets and other items stored at various levels, including overhead.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 90% of the time.
  • Ability to speak and hear well enough to communicate clearly and understandably with sufficient volume to ensure an accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the telephone, and in a group setting.
  • Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow, ability to communicate with visitors, ability to complete tasks in situations that have a speed or productivity quota.
