Education: MS degree or BS degree with 2 additional years of experience 
Experience: 10 years 
Certifications: DoDI 8750 and 8140 compliant 

Position Overview: 

The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the design, development, implementation, maintenance, and support of mission-critical enterprise database systems. The DBA ensures data integrity, security, availability, and optimal performance across the organization’s databases. This role is central to maintaining robust data infrastructure, supporting organizational needs, and ensuring effective data management and compliance. 
 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Design, create, and maintain enterprise-level databases. 

  • Ensure quality control and auditing of databases for accuracy and proper usage. 

  • Develop and implement strategies to support database scalability and organizational goals. 

  • Consult with end users on database access and resolve data conflicts or misuse. 

  • Manage installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of database systems. 

  • Monitor and optimize performance of SQL and other database environments. 

  • Implement backup, restore, and disaster recovery solutions. 

  • Collaborate with application developers on schema design and query performance. 

  • Direct the use and maintenance of the corporate data dictionary. 

  • Ensure database security measures align with DoD compliance standards. 

Technical Skills and Knowledge: 

  • Proficiency in MS SQL Server, Azure SQL, Oracle, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and related tools. 

  • Hands-on experience with SQL Server Configuration Manager, SQL Server Agent, Azure Data Studio, and Database Tuning Advisor. 

  • Advanced skills in database performance tuning, backup/recovery strategies, and security implementation. 

  • Strong understanding of relational database principles, data modeling, and normalization. 

  • Familiarity with DoD data protection and cybersecurity compliance requirements.
