Senior Database Administrator

CoverMyMeds is seeking an experiencedSenior Database Administratorto support and evolve our database platforms as we continue migrating from onpremises infrastructure to Azure. This role focuses on reliable database operations, cloud adoption, automation, and close collaboration with application and platform teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and supportPostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Serverin Azure and on-prem environments.

  • Support database migrations fromonprem to Azure, including validation, performance tuning, and postmigration stabilization.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot database performance and reliability issues using native tools andDatadog.

  • Implement and maintainbackup, recovery, and high availabilitysolutions.

  • Use and help extendLiquibasefor database schema and change management in CI/CD pipelines.

  • Contribute to database provisioning and configuration throughTerraformand Infrastructure as Code practices.

  • Collaborate with application and platform teams supportingKubernetesbased workloads, ensuring databases integrate reliably with containerized applications.

  • Automate routine operational tasks using scripting where appropriate.

  • Follow and contribute to database security, compliance, and documentation standards.

  • Participate in an oncall rotation for production database support.

Priority will be given to candidates who reside in the Columbus, OH metropolitan area.

Minimum Qualifications

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.

Critical Skills

  • 7+ years of experience as a Database Administrator or similar role.

  • Strong (5-7 Years) handson experience withPostgreSQL and/or SQL Server, including performance tuning and recovery.

  • 7+ Years experience operating databases inAzure, AWS or GCP.

  • Working knowledge ofLiquibase,Terraform, or similar tooling.

  • Familiarity withKubernetes environmentsand how databases support those workloads.

  • Experience(5-7 Years)with monitoring/observability tools such asDatadog.

  • Scripting experience (PowerShell, Python, or similar).

  • Strong troubleshooting and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with cloud migration initiatives.

  • Exposure to additional database platforms.

  • Practical use ofAIassisted tools(e.g., Copilot, Claude) for troubleshooting, analysis, or automation.
