Job Description

The net.AMERICA Corporation is seeking a Database Management Specialist who will support ongoing operations of legacy systems while facilitating the acquisition of a complex, modernized insurance solution. The Database Management Specialist will be an integral part of the efforts to engage in data cleansing, profiling, governance, and analysis on 30+ years of archived, non-production policy and claims data from the legacy system in order to prepare for the eventual migration of this data to the Phoenix solution. The Database Management Specialist will configure and prepare multiple software and hardware products, such as BigInsights, PureData Analytics, and SPSS. Additionally, the Database Management Specialist will assist with the import of NFIP non-production data to a development environment, perform management of the resulting data repositories, and conduct data normalization, cleansing, and profiling activities, utilizing IBM Infosphere Information Server (IIS) suite, including: Metadata Workbench, Business Glossary, DataStage, Quality Stage, and additional supporting statistical packages as necessary. As a result, mastery of database management and data analysis principles is mandatory. The Database Management Specialist will be expected to rapidly develop expertise in the basic tenets of the program, property insurance, and the legacy Transaction Record Reporting And Processing (TRRP) reporting system, in order to apply insights to strengthen analysis. The Database Management Specialist will be expected to contribute to written summary reports, communicating technically complex concepts in accessible language. The Database Management Specialist will also be required to perform some mentoring and management of an existing team of functional analysts.


Qualifications

Responsibilities, but not limited to: 

Job Duty 1 with % of time - Experience Implementing IBM Infosphere Information Server Suite - 30%

Job Duty 2 with % of time - Red Hat Linux, AIX Administration - 20%

Job Duty 3 with % of time - Database Management - 30% 

Job Duty 4 with % of time - Data Analysis and Governance (Optim and Guardium) -20%


Required Skills:

Experience Implementing IBM Infosphere Information Server Suite: The Phoenix team has acquired IBM PureData for Analytics, powered by Netezza technology, and IBM Infosphere Information Server, as the key supporting software and hardware for the Data Quality & Analytics effort. Database Management Specialists should have demonstrated experience in implementing IBM Infosphere technologies, including DataStage, QualityStage, etc. Database Management Specialists should have experience migrating customer data from legacy systems into new systems including data cleansing and standardization. Years of Experience - minimum of 4 years, 6+ years preferred. 

Database Management: The Database Management Specialist should demonstrate experience in database management. Key responsibilities include the import and export of large unstructured datasets across different formats, the maintenance of related documentation, and ongoing oversight of the data warehouse and Big Data environments through user control access, performing configuration updates, and data refreshes. Database Management Specialists should have prior experience working with Netezza and IBM BigInsights. Additionally, Database Management Secialists are required to have a strong background in Red Hat Linux system administration. Years of Experience - minimum of 4 years, 6+ years preferred. 

Data Analysis and Governance: The Database Management Specialists must have the ability to apply data discovery techniques in IBM Infosphere Information Server to clarify data structure, content, and derivation rules, produce standard profiling information, document data concerns, and lead on data normalization and cleansing activities. Due to the complexity and size of the NFIP data set (40+ TB), experience with big data and statistical software is strongly desired. Experience working with IBM Guardium and Optim is preferred. Years of Experience - minimum of 4 years, 6+ years preferred.


Preferred Skills

Experience with query languages, such as SQL. Years of Experience - N/A, as this is preferred.

Experience with Data Governance activities. Years of Experience - N/A, as this is preferred.

Understanding or knowledge of FEMA, FIMA, and/or NFIP. Years of Experience - N/A, as this is preferred.

Understanding and tactical experience with an IT PMO. Years of Experience - N/A, as this is preferred.
