Our client seeks a Database Analyst / Programmer to collect, manage, analyze, and manipulate data from third party applications, and merge that data residing in these various sources to provide a range of internal functions with unified views.

Job Description

This position will be a key member of the team that oversees and supports our client's growing digital education operations. The position must be able to analyze data operations and use technologies to support current and future integrations and needs. Our client partners with industry leaders for a variety of digital needs, including creation, hosting, and delivery of online educational curriculum for one million teachers and students. The position requires sound knowledge of databases and data architecture reinforced by good process management and business rules.

The desired candidate is a driven multi-talented individual who has the experience to come on board, make an immediate impact, and expand their knowledge by learning new skills and technologies.

Essential Functions:

  • Build and use MSSQL servers for data projects
  • Use APIs to gather data from various third-party application partners and transform data for various internal users
  • Build scripts to use APIs to automate processes with same applications
  • Oversee data security including internal controls as well as delivery in/out of data transactions between customers according to Data Privacy and FERPA regulations
  • Create scripts and tools for non-technical users to access data and/or put data into various formats for internal users
  • Transform data for departmental needs including customer registrations, product usage, newsletter communications, and more
  • Communicate with Engineers/QA team at third party partners
  • Provide consultation on complex projects, often as the top-level contributor and specialist from technical POV
  • Assist team with QA, support, registration, and other items needed
  • Assess software application issues.
  • Good understanding of data lifecycle and architecture best practices.
Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Computer Science degree and minimum of 3 years of experience or 4 years of hands-on experience with a non-related degree
  • Proficiency in database development/management, specifically MSSQL server and MySQL
  • Understand data models and create diagrams showing the data architecture vision
  • Strong technical understanding of data translations and migrations.
  • Hand-on experience with APIs and API software and/or Python/PHP experience
  • In-depth knowledge of JSON and rest APIs
  • Database creation, migration, and normalization
  • Experience with Oauth2 or Authentications helpful
  • Understand the SDLC, and can see a project through from design to deployment
  • Research and development of technical solutions, testing, and upgrading
  • Accomplished presentation skills and ability to present data and information to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Effective communication skills including verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Can work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
