Summary of role
We are seeking a Data Architect Director to support the Commercial Information Management organization. This individual will focus on the Operations side of DevOps and will co-lead the design, development, operations, and governance of the enterprise data architecture and help define the enterprise data strategy. The role is responsible for enabling scalable data platforms, supporting advanced analytics and data visualization, and delivering reporting capabilities across commercial functions including Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Finance, and Tech Ops.

This position will partner closely with business stakeholders, IT, and internal analytics teams to operationalize the seamless flow of accurate and near real-time data across the organization. The individual will also act as a delivery leader for internal stakeholders with a strong operational focus, working closely with IT to operationalize, manage, support, and govern enterprise data assets.

The ideal candidate will bring industry experience within Life Sciences, Pharmaceuticals, or Commercial Operations environments.

This position is based inย Massachusettsย and requires a presenceย on-site threeย days per week, and open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States.

Responsibilities

Data Strategy and Architecture

  • Design and maintain scalable data architectures including data models, data warehouses, and semantic layers supporting reporting and analytics across multiple product portfolios, distribution models, and field organizations.
  • Establish standards and best practices for data integration, transformation, harmonization, and storage across enterprise platforms.
  • Define data relationships, keys, and governance structures to enable integration across disparate enterprise systems.
  • Ensure architecture supports scalability for new product launches and evolving distribution channels.

Commercial Data Management

  • Support key commercial data domains including:
  • Sales performance analytics
  • Customer and master data management
  • Contracting and pricing analytics
  • CRM platforms (Veeva, Salesforce)
  • Market access and HEOR data
  • Financial and operational reporting
  • Ensure alignment and consistency of commercial KPIs and reporting definitions.

Platform Ownership and Integration Leadership

  • Lead integration of enterprise data across multiple platforms including:
  • ERP systems (SAP, S/4HANA)
  • CRM platforms (Veeva, Salesforce)
  • Cloud data platforms and data lakes
  • External data vendors
  • APIs and third-party data providers
  • Define architecture standards for ETL/ELT pipelines and data orchestration.

Solution Delivery and Operational Excellence

  • Collaborate with Data Architects, Program Managers, IT teams, and vendors to translate business requirements into scalable technical data solutions.
  • Support planning, design, implementation, and operationalization of data platforms and reporting solutions.
  • Drive operational excellence through sustainable and supportable data architecture design.
  • Ensure solutions are production-ready, governed, and aligned with enterprise standards.

Stakeholder Engagement and Leadership

  • Partner with internal stakeholders and vendors to implement dashboards and data visualization solutions (Power BI, Tableau).
  • Facilitate cross-functional alignment and drive consensus on data and architecture decisions.
  • Escalate key decisions and risks appropriately to leadership.
  • Promote data governance, data quality, and data stewardship practices across the organization.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Data Architecture, Data Engineering or enterprise analytics.
  • Proven experience supporting commercial or operational business functions.
  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau).
  • Strong Technical expertise in working with SQL, Python, Dax and power Queries.
  • Experience with modern data platforms such as Azure, Databricks, and Snowflake.
  • Experience working with CRM and commercial platforms such as Veeva and Salesforce.
  • Strong understanding of business operations and commercial data workflows.

The pay range for this position is between $172,000 and $287,000 annually.

Actual base pay offered may vary depending on a number of factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience. Employees in this position are eligible for a discretionary performance-based cash incentive, and depending on the level of the role may be eligible for a discretionary annual equity award. Benefits for this position include a comprehensive health benefits package that includes medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage. Other offerings include life and disability benefits, pre-tax accounts, a 401(k) with company contribution, and a variety of other benefits.
