Job description

The Role: 

Generate:Biomedicines is seeking a Communications Manager to join its Corporate Affairs team. This role is for a visually driven communicator who can bring complex science to life with clarity, precision, and creativity. The ideal candidate will have a background in biology, computational science, or both, along with strong graphic design capabilities and a passion for shaping how a pioneering company builds brand equity, maintains quality, and is understood and trusted as the leader in generative biology. 

This person will help elevate the visual expression of the Generate brand across social media, animations, presentations, websites, and other communications. They will translate scientific and technical concepts into compelling visual stories for a broad range of stakeholders-scientific and non-scientific alike-while stewarding brand standards with rigor and taste, and bringing the judgment, initiative, and agility needed to thrive in a fast-paced environment. 

Here's How You Will Contribute: 

  • Elevate and execute the visual expression of the Generate:Biomedicines brand and its portfolio of brands, ensuring consistency and quality across corporate, clinical, and emerging brand identities. 
  • Develop content that brings our science and strategy to life, integrating visual execution with clear, effective content so ideas land with clarity and impact. 
  • Translate complex scientific and technical concepts into accessible, compelling narratives, adapting content and tone for audiences ranging from scientific experts to patients, so our work is clearly understood and trusted.  
  • Work in close partnership with computational and clinical leadership to shape and refine communications, enabling alignment, and effective storytelling. 
  • Apply and evolve brand standards in practice, maintaining a high bar for detail, coherence, and design excellence while helping scale new brands and initiatives. 
  • Manage the company's websites, including visual and copy updates, cross-functional content coordination, and oversight of external vendors.
  • Create and activate content across digital channels, using performance insights to continuously improve engagement and impact.  
  • Lead the production and execution of key company moments, including company-wide meetings and internal milestones, ensuring they are delivered with precision and reflect the same level of  quality, and ambition as our brand. 
  • Operate with urgency and ownership, managing competing priorities while proactively identifying opportunities to improve how we communicate. 
  • Continuously push how we show up, introducing new ideas, formats, and approaches that keep our storytelling modern, differentiated, and aligned with our ambition. 

The Ideal Candidate Will Have: 

  • A degree in biology, computer science, AI/ML, or a related field, and the ability to engage meaningfully with scientific and technical content. 
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in biotech, technology, or a similarly complex, fast-moving environment.  
  • Strong graphic design capabilities, with a clear sense of visual hierarchy, layout, and typography, and the ability to apply and evolve brand systems across formats (motion/animation a plus).  
  • The ability to bring together content and design seamlessly, translating complex ideas into clear, compelling communications.  
  • A strong understanding of AI/ML-driven drug discovery or computational biology, and the ability to translate this into content for different audiences. 
  • Sharp instincts for social and digital storytelling, with the ability to create content that is platform-aware, engaging, and aligned with Generate:Biomedicine's voice and scientific credibility. 
  • Experience managing digital platforms, including websites and social channels, with an understanding of performance and how to improve it.  
  • A high bar for quality and attention to detail, with the judgment to uphold and evolve brand standards.  
  • A proactive, self-directed mindset, able to operate with urgency, manage competing priorities, and take ownership of work.
