Job description

Employee will serve as a Data Transcriber - Medical Scribe located at the Veterans Health Administration in Louisville, KY.Qualifications:

This position includes a Selective Placement Factor (skill, knowledge, ability or other worker characteristic basic to - and essential for - satisfactory performance of the job). Selective Placement Factors are a prerequisite to appointment and represent minimum requirements for a position. Applicants who do not meet these factors are ineligible for further consideration.
The Selective Placement Factor for this position is: Knowledge of medical terminology

TYPING PROFICIENCY: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 25 words per minute.
EXPERIENCE: Experience includes performing work such as transcribing information into an electronic record, ensuring accuracy, spelling, punctuation and grammar; utilizing a variety of computer applicants/software such as word processing, spreadsheet database and audio-visual presentation software. Due to the major duties and responsibilities of this position, all applicants should have knowledge of medical terminology. Applicants must demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and show the ability to accurately document medical records. NOTE: Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): Successfully completed 2 years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. -OR-
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education (in excess of one year) and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is sedentary and does not require any special physical effort. Some work may require walking and standing, and carrying light items (e.g., papers, books, portable computer). The work often requires long hours to meet project deadlines and to devise corrective action and solutions to unexpected technical and/or management crises resulting in highly stressful work situations. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. The work environment involves everyday risks and discomforts that require normal safety precautions. The responsibilities of the position require occasional travel and may subject the employee to various resultant environmental changes.
