Title: Business Systems Analyst II
Duration: 6 Months (Opportunity for Extension or FTE)
Location: Portland, OR
Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Business Systems Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will serve as the Product Owner, acting as the primary liaison between business users and the technical team. This role involves shaping the product to meet business needs, translating business requirements into user stories, and prioritizing these stories for implementation. The Business Systems Analyst will play a critical role in ensuring that the final product aligns with business objectives and user expectations.
Team and Work Environment
  • Team size includes 4-5 onsiteand around 15 offshore including developers, and testers.
  • Connect with businesspartners to work on business processes and requirements. Translaterequirements to user stories for the technical team.
  • The person in this role willbe interacting with business partners. The person will be interacting withthe other business analysts and product owners. The person will also beworking with onsite and offshore technical team including data, API and UIengineers.

Key Responsibilities
Product Ownership
  • Serve as the Product Ownerfor the assigned product(s), ensuring alignment with business objectivesand user needs.
  • Develop a deep understandingof the product, its users, and the overall business context.

Business Liaison
  • Work closely with businessusers to gather, analyze, and document business requirements.
  • Facilitate effectivecommunication between business stakeholders and the technical team.

Requirement Translation
  • Translate businessrequirements into clear, detailed, and actionable user stories.
  • Ensure that user stories arewell-defined, including acceptance criteria, and are ready fordevelopment.

Prioritization
  • Collaborate with businessusers to prioritize user stories and features based on business value,user impact, and technical feasibility.
  • Maintain and manage theproduct backlog, ensuring it reflects current priorities and businessneeds.

Documenting Business Processes
  • Clearly document existingbusiness processes and envision future state processes.
  • Use diagrams, screen mockups,and detailed documentation to make processes easily understandable.

Stakeholder Management
  • Develop and maintain strongrelationships with business users, stakeholders, and technical teams.
  • Ensure alignment and manageexpectations through regular communication and updates.

Monitoring and Metrics
  • Monitor existing metrics anddevelop and propose new metrics.
  • Work with variousstakeholders both inside and outside of AED Technology Solutions team tomake actionable intelligence available to business stakeholders.

Collaboration and Communication
  • Foster strong relationshipswith business users, developers, and other stakeholders.
  • Facilitate and lead meetings,such as requirement gathering sessions, sprint planning, and reviewmeetings.

Technical Proficiency
  • Be conversant with technologyto work closely with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, API engineers, UI/UXdevelopers, Technical Architects, etc.

Quality Assurance
  • Review and validate thedeveloped product to ensure it meets business requirements and qualitystandards.
  • Provide feedback and guidanceto the technical team during the development process.

Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities forprocess improvements and contribute to the continuous enhancement ofproduct development practices.
  • Stay updated with industrytrends and best practices in business analysis and product management.

Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in businessadministration, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a relatedfield.
  • Proven experience as aBusiness Systems Analyst, Product Owner, or in a similar role for 5+years.
  • Any business systems analystrelated certification is a plus
  • Strong understanding ofproduct management and Agile methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical,problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional communication andinterpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage withstakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in requirementgathering, user story creation, and backlog management.
  • Familiarity with projectmanagement tools (e.g., JIRA, Trello, or similar).
  • Ability to work independentlyand as part of a collaborative team.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in Utilityindustry is a plus.
