Job Summary:

The Data Scientist Manager will lead a team responsible for modeling work that influences key decisions such as credit decisioning and loss forecasting, while also managing hiring and performance within the data science function.
Responsibilities:
• Lead a Data Science team that spans early-career ICs through senior ICs.
• Own hiring, performance management, and technical strategy for the function.
• Partner closely with the Head of Data and the leads of Data Engineering and Strategic Analytics on broader org direction.
• Teach about healthy data science team culture and trustworthy modeling.
• Defend design decisions on modeling systems built or led recently.
• Handle disagreements with stakeholders about scope, methodology, or interpretation of results.
• Contribute directly to modeling work alongside management responsibilities.
Qualifications:
Required:
• At least three years directly managing data scientists.
• Substantial individual contributor experience that has been kept current.
• Experience in designing models and scoping them with stakeholders.
• Ability to ship models to production and stay close to their performance.
• Proficiency in Python and standard data science toolset (scikit-learn, pandas, NumPy, matplotlib, statsmodels).
• Experience with Bayesian tooling (PyMC) on relevant projects.
• Experience deploying and orchestrating models on AWS using ECS, Airflow, and Terraform.
• Experience with Redshift as an underlying warehouse.
• Ability to teach about healthy data science team culture and trustworthy modeling.
• Experience handling disagreement with stakeholders about scope, methodology, or interpretation of results.
Preferred:
• Experience with modern LLM tooling.
• Experience in risk decisioning service redesign.
• Experience in credit portfolio modeling.
• Experience in marketing-mix attribution.
• Experience in product experimentation.
