What is a data sales manager?

Data Sales Managers are professionals responsible for selling data products, services, or solutions to clients. They identify potential customers, develop sales strategies, and manage relationships with existing clients to meet revenue targets. Their role often involves understanding client needs, negotiating contracts, and collaborating with data analysts or product teams to deliver customized solutions. Data Sales Managers play a crucial role in helping organizations monetize their data assets and drive business growth.

How does a data sales manager typically collaborate with technical teams to meet client needs?

A Data Sales Manager works closely with technical teams such as data engineers, analysts, and product specialists to ensure client requirements are clearly understood and met. This collaboration often involves translating client business needs into technical specifications, participating in solution design meetings, and coordinating deliverables throughout the sales cycle. By acting as a bridge between clients and technical experts, the Data Sales Manager helps facilitate customized data solutions, ensuring client satisfaction and successful project outcomes.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a data sales manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Data Sales Manager, you need a strong background in sales, data analytics, and business development, often supported by a bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field. Familiarity with CRM platforms like Salesforce, data visualization tools, and industry certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) are typically required. Excellent negotiation, relationship-building, and communication skills help you connect with clients and drive deals forward. These competencies are crucial for understanding client needs, presenting data solutions effectively, and achieving sales targets in a competitive market.

Fusion Manage PLM is one of Autodesk’s fastest growing and most strategically important businesses. We are hiring a Sr. Sales Manager to lead a high performing team of Fusion Sales Specialists who run complex PLM sales cycles, sell to executives, and drive transformational wins across engineering, operations, and manufacturing.

This is a frontline leadership role for someone who loves being in the field, coaching enterprise sellers, shaping deal strategy, and enforcing high standards around discovery, qualification, ROI selling, and technical partnership. Your team partners with account owners across segments, so you must stay tightly aligned with Autodesk’s account leadership to ensure Fusion Manage is positioned cleanly inside broader customer strategies.

Autodesk’s culture emphasizes curiosity, rapid innovation, and ownership. We believe in reimagining what is possible, taking smart risks, and pursuing results with urgency. Fusion amplifies that with startup speed, accountability, and a focus on building meaningful change in manufacturing.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of Fusion Sales Specialists who run complex PLM, workflow, and data platform sales cycles

  • Coach reps in deep discovery, architectural validation, executive engagement, and ROI-based selling

  • Join customer meetings regularly to model effective enterprise selling and advance strategic opportunities

  • Drive disciplined pipeline management, rigorous qualification, and accurate forecasting for Fusion Manage

  • Collaborate tightly with Autodesk account executives to ensure coherent account strategy and coordinated engagement

  • Partner closely with Fusion Technical Sales and implementation partners to ensure deals are scoped accurately and customers understand the full deployment path

  • Build a high-performance culture grounded in accountability, urgency, and continuous improvement

Minimum Qualifications
  • Strong experience as a frontline leader in enterprise software sales, ideally with PLM, manufacturing systems, or complex workflow technologies

  • Ability to coach sellers in multi stakeholder, executive level cycles that involve technical depth and business transformation

  • High standards for pipeline rigor, qualification, and deal strategy

  • Strong collaboration instincts, especially in environments with overlay selling and shared account ownership

  • Skill in connecting technology, process improvement, and ROI into a compelling value narrative

  • Competitive drive, sound judgment, and a desire to build a top tier enterprise sales organization

How You Will Be Measured
  • Fusion Manage revenue performance across your region

  • Quality and velocity of enterprise PLM sales cycles

  • Forecast accuracy and pipeline discipline

  • Partner alignment and accuracy of scoped services and solution design

  • Team performance, development, and retention

  • Cross functional collaboration with account teams, technical sales, and partners

Why Fusion, Why Now

Manufacturers are under massive pressure to streamline processes, modernize systems, and eliminate operational waste. Fusion Manage PLM is becoming the backbone of that transformation, and demand is accelerating globally.

As a Fusion Data Sales Manager, you will lead the sellers driving these high stakes, strategic deals. You will shape the success of a business that sits at the center of Autodesk’s future.

If you want to lead a high performing enterprise team and influence major customer transformations, we should talk.
