Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Manager to lead our database operations team. The DBA Manager will be responsible for overseeing database infrastructure strategy, managing a team of DBAs, and ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our database systems supporting our growing customer base.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of database administrators, fostering technical growth and career development.
  • Establish team goals, conduct performance reviews, and manage workload distribution across the DBA team.
  • Build and maintain a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
  • Recruit, onboard, and retain top database talent to support organizational growth.
  • Define on-call rotation schedules and ensure adequate 24/7 coverage for production systems.

Strategic Planning & Architecture:

  • Develop and execute the database infrastructure strategy aligned with business objectives and growth projections.
  • Lead the design and implementation of enterprise-level database solutions to meet current and future business requirements.
  • Evaluate emerging database technologies, cloud platforms, and tools to drive innovation and efficiency.
  • Partner with application development, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure cohesive technical solutions.
  • Define and maintain database standards, best practices, and architectural guidelines.

Database Operations & Governance:

  • Oversee the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Oracle, MS SQL, and PostgreSQL databases across physical, virtualized, and cloud environments.
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of all database systems through proactive monitoring and optimization.
  • Establish and enforce database governance policies, including change management, capacity planning, and lifecycle management.
  • Monitor team delivery of DBA services to application development, professional services, and support teams.
  • Drive automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual intervention.

Security, Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure implementation and enforcement of database security policies and technical controls.
  • Maintain compliance with SOC2/ISO27001 standards and coordinate with audit teams during assessments.
  • Oversee access management, encryption standards, and vulnerability remediation processes.
  • Identify and mitigate database-related risks across the enterprise.

Backup, Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity:

  • Own the enterprise disaster recovery strategy for all database systems, ensuring documentation is current and comprehensive.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and testing of backup/recovery methodologies, including RMAN for Oracle environments.
  • Ensure regular validation and testing of DR procedures across all supported platforms.
  • Maintain RPO/RTO targets and continuously improve recovery capabilities.

Performance & Technical Excellence:

  • Provide technical leadership on complex database performance issues and architectural challenges.
  • Guide the team in query optimization, indexing strategies, and database tuning best practices.
  • Stay current with industry trends, certifications, and emerging database technologies.
  • Serve as escalation point for critical production issues requiring advanced expertise.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management:

  • Manage relationships with database software vendors and cloud service providers.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on database infrastructure investments and initiatives.
  • Communicate technical concepts and project status to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 3+ years of people management experience.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in database administration, with 10+ years focused on Oracle 19c+ administration.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with MS SQL Server 2012+ and PostgreSQL.
  • Expert-level knowledge of PL/SQL coding, debugging, and query optimization.
  • Deep expertise in database performance monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting tools.
  • Strong background in Linux system administration and bash scripting.
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Azure Cloud, Azure SQL, and PowerShell scripting.
  • Demonstrated success in designing and implementing high-availability solutions (clustering, replication, failover strategies).
  • Experience with infrastructure design, security best practices, and regulatory compliance (SOC2/ISO27001).

The salary range in United States of America for this position is 139,000.00 to 174,000.00 USD Annual.

For sales roles, this range includes the commission target. For non-sales roles, this is a base salary only range; additional bonus eligibility may apply.
