Quality Assurance Technician
Temp-to-Hire
$23.50 per hour
Shift: 2-2-3/Rotating Schedule/6:00pm-6:30am
The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for conducting quality assurance audits on all beverage production products to ensure compliance with company and customer standards. This role is essential for maintaining product integrity and ensuring all activities adhere to applicable regulations, including FSMA, SQF, third-party audits, Kosher, and Organic requirements. The technician acts as a key resource for quality-related issues and collaborates with management to resolve production and efficiency problems.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Auditing & Compliance:
  • Conduct daily quality assurance audits of beverage production.
  • Perform timely line checks and audit equipment like container rinses, air blowers, and coders.
  • Ensure all pertinent analytical results are entered into the data collection system in a timely manner.
  • Participate in Quality System audits and safety inspections.
  • Segregate and hold products that do not meet specifications for further review and disposition.
Laboratory & Testing:
  • Operate and standardize lab equipment including Refractometer, pH Meter, Densitometer, HPLC, and Calibrated Thermometer.
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative testing of beverages, syrups, and raw materials.
  • Analyze product attributes such as Brix, Acid, Ascorbic Acid, pH, Flavor, Color, fill levels, and weight.
  • Conduct specific tests for caffeine, sorbic acid, benzoic acid, and allergens.
  • Perform swabbing and Allergen Control Test (ATP) swabs.
  • Collect and store retention samples.
Team & Operations:
  • Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and a clean work area.
  • Provide production assistance during product audits.
  • Ensure subsequent shifts have adequate supplies by reviewing lab materials and reagents.
  • Provide training to other QA Technicians.
  • Maintain a positive and cooperative work atmosphere with all staff.
Qualifications & Experience
Experience:
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience, preferably in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in the food or beverage industry is a plus.
Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a science-related field preferred.
Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail, professional attitude, and accuracy in work.
  • Familiarity with lab safety and handling of hazardous materials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
  • Proactive and cooperative attitude with a strong work ethic.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
