Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Geomatics Data Processing Engineer in Orlando, FL.
Overview:
This role supports the operation and maintenance of an established geospatial data processing pipeline, with an immediate focus on executing day-to-day data workflows ('chopping wood'). The position is best suited for a GIS Mapper or Geospatial Analyst with experience in utility, municipal, or survey environments seeking exposure to large-scale, high-volume geospatial datasets. Over time, this individual will contribute to data quality, workflow improvements, and broader geospatial processing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Pipeline Operations:
* Execute and maintain existing geospatial data processing pipelines for large datasets
* Perform routine data ingestion, validation, and processing tasks to ensure continuity of operations
* Support ongoing pipeline stability during a transitional period for the team
Geospatial Data Processing & Mapping:
* Process and manage geospatial datasets including LIDAR point clouds, imagery, and mapping layers
* Conduct data clean-up, feature extraction, and basic spatial analysis
* Perform quality checks to ensure data integrity and consistency
Data Quality & Support:
* Review outputs for accuracy and completeness, escalating issues as needed
* Support calibration and alignment workflows under guidance of senior team members
* Assist with documentation of processes and data workflows
Collaboration:
* Partner with technical teams, analysts, and engineers to support data processing needs
* Communicate progress and challenges in a clear and timely manner
REQUIREMENTS:
* 2-5 years of experience in GIS mapping, geospatial analysis, or survey-related roles
* Background in utilities, municipalities, or survey departments strongly preferred
* Experience working with structured geospatial datasets and mapping workflows
Tools & Technologies:
* Experience with GIS tools such as QGIS, Global Mapper, ArcGIS, or similar platforms
* Exposure to FME or similar data transformation tools is a plus
* Basic familiarity with Python or scripting is helpful but not required
Core Competencies:
* Strong attention to detail and ability to execute repetitive, process-driven work
* Willingness to learn and adapt to high-volume, complex datasets
* Ability to follow established workflows while identifying opportunities for improvement
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
