Senior Data Migration Consultant / Data Migration Lead (AWS GovCloud)

Location: Austin, TX (Onsite)
Employment Type: Contract

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Migration Consultant / Data Migration Lead to support a large-scale enterprise data migration initiative within a government-regulated environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience migrating enterprise databases to AWS GovCloud, utilizing Amazon RDS for MySQL and SQL Server, while ensuring compliance with security and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead enterprise-scale data migration planning and execution.
  • Analyze legacy databases and develop migration strategies.
  • Design and implement full-load, incremental, and CDC-based migration solutions.
  • Develop source-to-target data mappings and transformation rules.
  • Create reusable migration scripts using SQL, T-SQL, and PL/SQL.
  • Build validation, reconciliation, audit, and reporting scripts.
  • Execute migrations across development, staging, and production environments.
  • Perform data quality validation and resolve migration issues.
  • Prepare migration documentation, execution reports, and technical deliverables.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
 
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of database development and enterprise data migration experience.
  • 5+ years leading enterprise-scale migration projects.
  • Strong experience migrating data from Oracle, SQL Server, or other enterprise RDBMS platforms.
  • Expertise with:
    • SQL
    • T-SQL
    • PL/SQL
    • ETL Development
    • Data Modeling
    • Data Transformation
    • Data Validation & Reconciliation
    • Performance tuning for large-volume migrations
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • AWS GovCloud (Preferred)
    • Amazon RDS for MySQL
    • Amazon RDS for SQL Server
    • Cloud security and compliance
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • AWS Certification (Solutions Architect, Database Specialty, or equivalent)
  • Experience supporting government, defense, or other regulated industries.
  • Experience with Change Data Capture (CDC).
  • Experience leading high-volume cloud migration projects.
