What does a data marketer do?

A data marketer analyzes large datasets to identify trends and insights that inform marketing strategies. They use tools like analytics platforms and data visualization software to optimize campaigns, target audiences, and improve overall marketing performance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Data Marketing Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Data Marketing Specialist, you need a solid understanding of data analytics, digital marketing principles, and experience with data-driven campaign strategies, often supported by a degree in marketing, statistics, or a related field. Familiarity with tools such as Google Analytics, CRM systems, marketing automation platforms, and data visualization software is typically required. Strong communication, critical thinking, and project management skills help professionals interpret data and collaborate effectively across teams. These skills are important because they enable the creation of targeted, measurable campaigns that drive business growth and optimize marketing ROI.

How much do data marketers make?

Data marketers typically earn a median annual salary of around $70,000 to $100,000, depending on experience, location, and industry. Entry-level positions may start lower, while experienced professionals with skills in analytics and marketing tools can earn higher salaries. Certifications in data analysis or marketing platforms can also influence earning potential.

How does a Data Marketing professional typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve campaign goals?

Data Marketing professionals work closely with teams such as sales, creative, IT, and analytics to design, implement, and optimize marketing campaigns. They often translate complex data insights into actionable strategies for non-technical stakeholders, ensuring that messaging and targeting align with business objectives. Regular meetings and data-sharing sessions are common, fostering a collaborative environment where feedback is used to refine audience segmentation, content personalization, and campaign measurement. This cross-functional coordination is key to driving campaign effectiveness and achieving measurable results.

What is data marketing?

Data marketing is the use of data and analytics to inform and optimize marketing strategies, campaigns, and customer interactions. By collecting and analyzing data from various sources—such as social media, website analytics, and customer databases—marketers can better understand consumer behavior and preferences. This enables them to create more personalized content, target audiences more effectively, and measure the impact of their efforts. Data marketing helps companies make smarter decisions, improve return on investment (ROI), and stay competitive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Is 40 too late for data science?

Data marketing professionals and data scientists can enter the field at any age, including 40 or older. Success depends on acquiring relevant skills such as programming, statistics, and tools like SQL or Python, along with experience and continuous learning. Age is less important than skills, adaptability, and a strong understanding of data-driven strategies.

What is the highest paid job in marketing?

The highest paid roles in marketing are typically executive-level positions such as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) or Vice President of Marketing, with salaries often exceeding six figures and sometimes reaching into the high hundreds of thousands or more for large organizations. These roles require extensive experience, strategic leadership skills, and often advanced degrees or certifications in marketing or business management.

Job description

Are you looking for a role where data, analytics, and strategy come together?

At Security National Bank, if there is one belief we hold together as a team, it’s that everything matters.  From the words we say, to the way we dress, to the decisions we make and the actions we take – every single thing we do matters.  Why?  Because we recognize the inherent value of each individual, and the potential of what each person can become.  We realize every one of life’s interactions is an opportunity to help someone reach that potential.  This is why we treat even the smallest details of life and banking with careful thought and attention.  If you aspire to do the same, we’d like you to advance your career with us at SNB.

The Data & Marketing Analyst is a strategic contributor responsible for leveraging data, analytics, and digital marketing insights to support the Bank’s growth, customer engagement, and revenue objectives. This role partners closely with marketing, sales, and internal stakeholders to ensure data integrity, deliver actionable intelligence, optimize marketing performance, and support effective lead management and decisionmaking.

Details Matter.  We’re looking for someone who brings strong analytical thinking, partners effectively across teams, and uses data to drive informed marketing and business decisions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Data & Analytics

  • Own and oversee data integrity between core banking systems and the CRM platform (HubSpot), ensuring accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
  • Lead and support ongoing data cleanup, reporting enhancements, and data governance initiatives.
  • Analyze customer, marketing, and performance data to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for growth.
  • Develop and refine audience segmentation and targeting strategies using analytics and data platforms.
  • Design, maintain, and evolve dashboards, reports, and visualizations to track KPIs and executivelevel metrics.
  • Evaluate marketing and sales performance, providing insights through campaign analysis, market research, and competitive intelligence.

Marketing & Digital Marketing Strategy

  • Partner with marketing stakeholders to support and optimize digital marketing efforts, including SEO, SEM, email marketing, website analytics, and social media performance tracking.
  • Provide analytical support and strategic recommendations to improve campaign effectiveness, customer acquisition, engagement, and ROI.
  • Inform campaign development and optimization through datadriven insights and performance trends.
  • Provide backup support for internal communications and key marketing operations, as needed.

Sales, Lead, & CrossFunctional Support

  • Analyze and identify highquality leads and support efficient routing to appropriate business units.
  • Collaborate with sales and internal teams to track followup, conversion performance, and pipeline outcomes.
  • Serve as a data and analytics partner on crossfunctional initiatives and projects.

Events & Project Support

  • Provide analytical and operational support for marketing events, employee engagement initiatives, customer appreciation activities, and sales meetings.
  • Contribute to planning, reporting, and postevent analysis to measure impact and outcomes.
  • Support special projects and evolving business needs as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Data Analytics, Business, or related field
  • Experience with data analysis
  • Familiarity with digital marketing platforms (Google Analytics, Google Ads, HubSpot, etc.)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Required for this position: Strong attention to detail, excellent organization, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Clear communication and collaboration skills are essential for working effectively with teams across the bank to ensure data accuracy and deliver meaningful insights. Success in this role also requires a problem-solving mindset, curiosity to learn new tools and processes, and creativity in turning data into actionable marketing strategies. Adaptability and a willingness to embrace new technology are key to advancing our marketing and CRM initiatives.

HOURS:

Regular business hours, Monday through Friday.

BENEFITS:

We offer a comprehensive benefit package to our employees including medical, dental, vision, short and long term disability, life insurance, paid time off, a wellness program, and a 401(k) savings plan at hire for future financial protection.

ABOUT SECURITY NATIONAL BANK:

Security National Bank was chartered in 1884 in Sioux City, Iowa; founded on the time-tested principles of integrity, honor, open-mindedness, efficiency, good humor, respect, duty, and human connection.  These principles served as guideposts that enabled SNB to withstand the economic panic of the late 1800s, the Great Depression, two World Wars, and the farm crisis — and emerge as the region’s most established and trustworthy locally owned bank.  We believe what was worth doing well yesterday is still worth doing well today. People change and banking changes, but our time-tested principles remain.  To this day, we believe that doing what’s right is the only way to take care of customers, empower businesses, cultivate growth, inspire our community, and accomplish the remarkable.

Security National Bank is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action Employer.  Applicants are considered for all positions without regard to race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), national origin, age, disability, marital status, or veteran status.
