The successful candidate will demonstrate strong cloud capability to design and manage scalable, secure, and efficient data infrastructure across technology platforms (cloud and on-prem), ensuring seamless integration, storage, and access to enterprise and operational data. The Data architect will define the data architecture and support system integration design to enable business transformation. A key focus will be influencing the organization's cloud and data strategy, including the structure and layout of data to enable data-driven outcomes.

The project involves key technology systems contributing to mission-critical operations and business continuity. AtkinsRealis' vast experience of projects and infrastructure operations across key markets provides the successful candidate a unique opportunity to contribute to one of the most important airport projects in Canada.

This position is based at our Project Office in the west end ofToronto, Ontariorequiring the candidate to be in office Monday to Friday weekly.

Your role
  • Understand business requirements, roadmap, and success criteria to define the data architecture and document the integration design that will set the development team up to successfully deliver transformative business outcomes.

  • Collaborate with senior business stakeholders to secure strong engagement and ensures that the delivery of the project aligns with longer-term strategic roadmaps.

  • Design a scalable data architecture in Azure and MS Fabric to empower our business with reusable and trusted data assets that are cost-efficient.

  • Seamlessly work in an ecosystem with over 250 applications (mix of on-premise, SaaS, multi-cloud hosted) and outsourced operating environment to architect data pipelines and solutions that will efficiently drive real-time and predictive data in the right format to the right front-end application.

  • Interpret and deliver impactful strategic plans improving data integration, data quality, and data delivery in support of business initiatives and roadmaps.

  • Supports the design of the structure and layout of data systems, including databases, warehouses, and lakes.

  • Research and recommends the right cloud solution that meet the organization's needs by defining data schemas, optimizing data storage, and establishing data access controls and security measures.

  • Supports the implementation of the long-term technology strategy and innovations roadmaps across analytics, data engineering, and data platforms.

  • Designs and implements processes for the ETL process from various sources into the organization's data systems.

  • Translates high-level business requirements into data models and appropriate metadata, test data, and data quality standards.

  • Lead and participate in peer review and quality assurance of project architectural artifacts across the EA group through governance forums.

  • Works with IT teams, business analysts, and data analytics teams to understand data consumers' needs and develop solutions.

  • Evaluates and recommends emerging technologies for data management, storage, and analytics.

About you
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, engineering, or related field.

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in design and implementation of data integration solutions for enterprise data and AI initiatives preferably in the Azure stack.

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience architecting and building data pipelines in the Azure stack utilizing Azure Event Hub and Azure Data Factory.

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience architecting and building solutions using Azure Synapse, Pyspark and Power BI.

  • Mandatory Technical Certifications:

    • Azure Fundamentals.

    • Azure Solutions Architect Expert.

    • Azure Developer Associate.

    • Azure AI Engineer Associate.

    • Azure Administrator Associate.

    • Azure DevOps Engineer Expert.

  • Proficiency in the design and implementation of modern data integrations models and concepts in Microsoft Azure, real-time data distribution (Kafka, Dataflow), and modern data warehouse tools (Databricks, Synapse, Microsoft Fabric).

  • Passion for data-powered decision making utilizing a modern (Azure) architecture.

  • Ability to think strategically and communicate technical decisions and recommendations to non-technical business stakeholders across the airports' businesses.

  • A problem-solver with customer focus, conflict resolution, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively with others.
