While both roles involve working with data, Data Integration Analysts focus on consolidating and analyzing data from various sources using ETL tools and SQL. Data Engineers build and maintain the infrastructure and pipelines that enable data flow across systems. The roles often collaborate but differ in technical depth and scope.

What is a Data Integration Analyst?

A Data Integration Analyst is a professional who specializes in combining data from different sources to create a unified view for analysis and reporting. They work with various databases, applications, and data formats to ensure information flows seamlessly across systems. Their role often includes designing and maintaining data pipelines, troubleshooting integration issues, and ensuring data quality and consistency. Data Integration Analysts play a key role in helping organizations make informed decisions by providing accurate and comprehensive data.

What are some common challenges faced by Data Integration Analysts when working with disparate data sources?

Data Integration Analysts often encounter challenges such as inconsistent data formats, varying data quality, and incomplete documentation across different systems. Collaborating with IT, business stakeholders, and external vendors to understand source data and resolve discrepancies is a frequent part of the job. Managing these complexities requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication to ensure accurate and efficient data integration.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Data Integration Analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Data Integration Analyst, you need strong analytical skills, proficiency in data modeling, and a solid understanding of database systems, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with ETL tools (such as Informatica or Talend), SQL, and data integration platforms is typically required, as well as knowledge of APIs and data warehousing solutions. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are valuable soft skills that help in collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders. These competencies are crucial for ensuring seamless data flow, accurate reporting, and strategic decision-making within organizations.

Job description

Rockwell Automation is a global technology leader focused on helping the world's manufacturers be more productive, sustainable, and agile. With more than 28,000 employees who make the world better every day, we know we have something special. Behind our customers - amazing companies that help feed the world, provide life-saving medicine on a global scale, and focus on clean water and green mobility - our people are energized problem solvers that take pride in how the work we do changes the world for the better.
We welcome all makers, forward thinkers, and problem solvers who are looking for a place to do their best work. And if that's you we would love to have you join us!
Job Description
Position Summary:
Plex, by Rockwell Automation, is the leading cloud-based, multi-tenant Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Quality Management System (QMS), and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform for manufacturers, recognized as an MES market leader by multiple industry analysts.
We're looking for a Senior Product Manager for Data & Integration to own and evolve the core platform capabilities that determine how Plex connects, secures, models, and moves data across the manufacturing ecosystem. This role is about enabling headless scale and interoperability-through secure APIs, modern identity and access management, event-driven integrations, and a coherent data platform that customers, partners, and internal teams can confidently build upon.
Reporting to the Group Product Manager for Platform, Data & AI, you will define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Plex's data and integration capabilities. You will work closely with engineering, architecture, and domain product teams to shape how Plex data is modeled, exposed, and consumed-by humans, systems, and increasingly by AI- and agent-driven workflows.
We are looking for strong systems thinking and technical fluency, paired with the ability to translate complex platform and infrastructure investments into clear customer value. You will play a central role in connecting Plex to the broader Rockwell Automation ecosystem and ensuring the platform is ready for the next generation of analytics, automation, and intelligent operations.
Your Responsibilities:
  • Lead the product vision, roadmap, and execution for Plex's Data & Integration platform, including APIs, events, identity and access management, integrations, and core data services.
  • Evolve Plex's API and MCP strategy, ensuring secure and scalable access to platform capabilities for customers, partners, and internal development teams.
  • Lead product strategy for event-driven architecture, including how you produce, govern, and consume operational events across systems in near real-time.
  • Promote a cohesive approach to data modeling and semantic layers, ensuring Plex data is well-defined, discoverable, and reusable across operational workflows, analytics, integrations, and AI or agent-based use cases.
  • Own product direction for Identity and Access Management (IAM), including authentication, authorization, and fine-grained access control, in close partnership with security and compliance teams.
  • Define platform strategy for integrations and connectors, allowing seamless data exchange with enterprise IT systems, cloud platforms, analytics tools, and automation ecosystems.
  • Own core data platform capabilities, including data archival, document storage, retention policies, and lifecycle management, aligned with customer needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with domain product teams (MES, QMS, ERP) to ensure data, events, and semantic definitions support their roadmaps and reduce fragmentation across the platform.
  • Engage directly with customers, partners, sales, and stakeholders to understand integration challenges, validate priorities, and communicate platform strategy.
  • Establish clear metrics to measure adoption, reliability, performance, and long-term impact of data and integration capabilities.

The Essentials - You Will Have:
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
  • Ability to travel, including internationally, up to 10% of time.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
  • Typically requires 8+ years of product management experience, including ownership of platform, data, or integration products in an enterprise SaaS (B2B) environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field; advanced degree (MBA, Master's).
  • Experience creating and delivering clear customer-facing messaging for platform capabilities, combined with direct enablement of sales, partners, and internal GTM teams to drive understanding and adoption.
  • Experience with multiple API styles and integration patterns, including REST, GraphQL, OData, webhooks, and event-based interfaces.
  • Experience working with integration platforms (iPaaS) such as Boomi, MuleSoft, or similar technologies.
  • Experience defining data models and semantic layers that support operational workflows, analytics, and AI or agent-driven use cases.
  • Prior experience supporting AI/ML or advanced analytics use cases, even if another team owned model development.
  • Familiarity with concepts such as machine-consumable APIs, observability, data quality, and feedback loops in automated or intelligent systems.
  • Strong product discovery skills and comfort navigating ambiguity in interconnected technical domains.
  • Experience working with enterprise or industrial customers, including IT/OT integration challenges.

What We Offer:
  • Health, Medical, Dental, Vision, Life & Disability Insurance
  • 401k
  • Paid Time off
  • Parental and Caregiver Leave
  • Flexible Work Schedule where you will work with your manager to enjoy a work schedule that can be flexible with your personal life.
  • Opportunities to influence secure product architecture and embedded cybersecurity for global OT systems.
