Health Assistant Substitutes needed periodically at school buildings 8.5 hour days, $13.18/hour

1.ย ย ย ย ย ย  Provides basic health care and first aid to students

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Acts as first responder in medical situation

ย 

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Contacts parents of ill or injured students in accordance with school/health policies and if needed to prepare students to go home

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Follows up on all Incident Reports with parents of students to check progress, health of child

ย 

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Allows students to express emotional issues, talks with students to reassure and counsel

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Contacts the School Nurse in case of major illness or serious injury, hospitalization, communicable diseases, repeated absences and repeated office visits

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  All medical information and all visits to the nurses office as well as phone calls from parents/physicians entered into computers

8.ย ย ย ย ย ย  Studies and reads current laws and news to provide the best possible care for staff and students, strives to be informed to provide best services to parents, staff and students

9.ย ย ย ย ย ย  Performs specialized treatments as delegated by the School Nurse (e.g. catheterization, blood sugar tests, gastrostomy-tube feedings) for the purpose of providing for and monitoring students' medical needs and/or testing
